Beautiful pics from the air. Not so beautiful when you are grounded. How do we preserve our natural resources which we are undeservedly qblessed with? I’ve known this beach since I was a kid. My relatives lived a stone throw from the waves. Whenever we would sweep the house, sand was what we gathered. I’m and adult now and my appreciation for this particular beach remains the same. However, the Mero beach isn’t the same. It’s filthy. With fried chicken bones being tossed along the road there, encourages many dogs 🐕 and they relieve themselves on the beach. This isn’t “hearsay.” I’ve seen it and it’s disgusting. There was a gentleman early one morning covering the dog s…because tourists boat was in town. Go jogging on the beach after the dog s… is covered, then you’ll know how beautiful it is. To avoid stepping into that mess; my advice to you is to stay much further up south on the beach, or further north. It’s a shame.

Instead of commenting about staying away, how about locals organize to keep it clean. The local village council should consider regular clean ups by the community or organize for volunteers to come in regularly. The entire population of DA enjoys Mero beach; I am sure that they would all join in regular clean ups. Stop complaining and instead do something.

This was the location of the Castaways Beach hotel in the 1960’s.

The hotel was called Castaways Beach Hotel not castaways beach the beach was not called castaways beach it was just called the beach at Mero. It was a popular swimming beach in the 1960’s it had nothing to do with the hotel the guests just used it.
