Five young women from across the island are set to be launched this afternoon as the Miss Teen Dominica contestants for the competition scheduled for February 12, 2023.
The five secondary school students who will be introduced this afternoon are Mia Williams of the Isaiah Thomas Secondary School (ITSS); Shian Slyvester of the Dominica Grammar School (DGS); Jharrissia Gage of the Convent High School; Kenisha Antoine of the Castle Bruce Secondary School (CBSS) and Sherveze Seaman of the Portsmouth Secondary School (PSSS).
According to Raymond Lawrence, artistic director of the Waitukubuli Dance Theatre Company, this afternoon’s launch will include remarks from Chandler Hyacinth, permanent secretary in the ministry of education, Kerwin Jno Baptiste, events assistant at the Dominica Festival Committee (DFC), Kendra Stephens, who will be speaking on behalf of headline sponsor AC Shillingford Company Ltd., and Lawrence himself.
The reigning Miss Teen Dominica 2020, Lytleen Julien, will also deliver a special welcome and sash the contestants before they introduce themselves to the public.
The ceremony which will start at 5 PM at the Old Mill Cultural Center, is also anticipated to have entertainment by calypsonian Shanice.
