Chief Medical Officer (CMO), Dr. David Johnson, has said that the flu season is creating a challenge for the health department in Dominica.
“Through our weekly national public health surveillance system which has been established in Dominica since 2003, through this system we have now begun to see more cases of what we refer to as acute respiratory illnesses,” Dr. Johnson stated recently. “In other words the flu season is now on us, so this is certainly putting further challenges on the health system and we would like to ask the public that if they have the flu-like symptoms to call the hotline, rather than to just showing up at the A&E Department of the Dominica-China Friendship Hospital.”
He explained that because the flu season has started, more people are showing up at the hospital.
“We want to ensure that Covid-19 does not slip in,” Dr. Johnson stated.
He also reminded the public of the no visitation policy at the Dominica-China Friendship Hospital at this time.
Meantime, Dr. Johnson reminded those persons who are on home quarantine to call the hotline number if they are in any way sick.
“We have been having occasions at the hospital where persons on home quarantine just show up at the A & E at the Dominica-China Friendship Hospital,” he revealed. “We strongly discourage this practice.”
Dr. Johnson, are you for real??? . Don’t come to the accident and emergency department?? Call the HOTLINE???🤔🤭👹 The hotline too hot. Two minutes pass before someone answers impolitely.
But what is this for me Noh. So the government really planning to let us die like flies??!!
Johnson, why our hospital doesn’t have an ISOLATION ward?? You from Marigot and I am sure you aware that the old one at “cotton piece” had one!!
Did you advise the PM, that the hospital should be the first thing he built after 19 hours of negotiation with the Chinese and the “up till now undisclosed MOU???! Bro, you are the CMO!!!
So what is the use of always spewing the slogan “Your health is your wealth”??
Poor us Dominicans. Damn…!
HOTEP!
We are living in unprecedented times and the health services are stretched to their maximum elasticity.
Even though our main hospital is under tremendous stress, if my child happen to get the flu and have severe respiratory problems, I will seek medical attention at the hospital.
At times you call the hospital and you have challenges to get someone to even pick up the receiver. Should I then stay at home then have a corpse on my hand?
Come on, there must be a better way. Set up additional places to treat those who are badly affected by the flu. Every life is sacred.
