The organizers of the Nature Island Literary Festival and Bookfair have announced new dates for this year’s 9th Edition of the popular event.
Usually a part of the Emancipation Celebrations held on the weekend after Emancipation Day, the Festival formed a fitting end to the Emancipation Celebrations but the organizers lamented the poor attendance of Teachers and Students, many of whom travel out of Dominica for their summer vacations.
Deputy Chair of the Festival, Dr. Alwin Bully, said that the Committee felt it was most important that young people be exposed to the best writers of the Caribbean and introduced to the many careers that were open to them in the fields of writing and publishing.
This year’s Main Event will be on Sunday September 11th at the UWI Open Campus at 10 a.m. followed by a Mero Beach Rhyme from 3-9 p.m. On Monday September 12th, there will be a Special Schools Festival Showcase at the Arawak House of Culture.
All events are free and open to the public.
part of the mystery.
Interesting!!..The power of being able to read is enormous..Our young people have to embrace this opportunity..remember Freedom is the Mind..Reading fortifies the Mind..
Oh Boy! I won\’t have my book published on time for this year\’s event. I am writing a book about the transformation of D/ca\’s political over the last four decades. Highlighting the coming of ineptness and greed. The migration of the planter class and business class to Miami and elsewhere leaving their employees in the cold . The hybridization of the authentic Labour party by elements of the DFP and other political venture capitalists. The failed back sliding cadres ej those of Athie etc (One has since left us.) and all the former leftist gone rouge along with those leaders of the Neo DLP.
This announcement is of little use if you do not tell us who you are or the title of your book.
