Abuse against boys goes unreported; social workers concerned

Jemma Azille-Lewis is concerned that abuse against boys goes unreported
Jemma Azille-Lewis is appealing to the public to report cases of abuse against boys

Unreported cases of abuse against boys are a cause for major concern to social workers in Dominica.

According to Coordinator of the Child Abuse Prevention Unit at the Social Welfare Division, Jemma Azille-Lewis, abuse against boys goes unreported due to fear of stigma and discrimination.

She is now appealing to the public to report such cases to the authorities.

“The girls are the ones which we get to know about,” Azille-Lewis  said. “This does not mean that our boys are not getting abused but because of the whole stigmatization, boys are afraid to come forward. Sometimes we speak with the young boys and even when they are being abused and you tell them the process of reporting a case, they are afraid to continue.”

She noted further that unlike girls, boys suffer a higher rate of physical abuse and neglect whereas more girls suffer sexual abuse. She did note, however, that boys also suffer sexual abuse.

“I am urging everyone to celebrate our children on International Children’s day tomorrow (Wednesday),” she said. “Denounce violence against them. Many times our children are victims of violence and abuse and no age range is immune … we want to encourage all Dominicans to support our children. We cannot do it alone at the Social Welfare Division it is impossible.”

Meanwhile, Social worker Francis Joseph said that some boys between the ages of eight to 10, who have been sexually abused by other men, had to be removed from mainstream schools since they are emotionally damaged.

“We have to protect them and this is a situation that we have to address,” he said.

Both Azille and Joseph were addressing reporters at a function geared at recognizing International Men’s Day.

I am glad to see social workers are recognizing that boys are being sexually abused. It has been known but there has been a reluctance to acknowledge it publically because people don’t want to stir up the gay hornets nest at a time when you can be called biased or homophobic or have charges laid against you by some civil rights organization for taking a stand against homosexuality.

The sexual abuse of boys comes almost entirely from homosexual men. With militant gay organizations campaigning for homosexual rights including the rights to marry and adopt society is slow to admit that there are problems with the equality plank in their platform.

In 1992 it was published in The Journal of Sex and Marital
Therapy that “homosexual men are three times more likely to engage in paedophilia.”

Dr. Richard Fitzgibbons, the US psychiatrist, wrote ” Every priest whom I have treated who was involved with children
had previously been involved in adult homosexual relationships.”

Alfred Kinsey, the famous sex researcher, found in 1948 that 37% of gay men admitted to having sex with children.

The sexual abuse of boys is a homosexual problem. Only about 3 to 4% of the male population is homosexual so this explains why more girls are molested than boys. However, a homosexual pedophile usually has more victims than a heterosexual pedophile and is more likely to be a “serial” child rapist.

Stats show that the abuse of boys under eighteen is increasing in some localities. It has been noted that the abuse of boys is often unreported.

But the fact that the known abuse of boys is increasing is deeply troubling. Something called “political correctness or PC” is one reason why the homosexual abuse of little boys is not reported. Nobody wants to be accused of being “homophobic” or of “discriminating” against the gays.
This is especially true in a country were homosexuality has al won legal status and equality.

According to information provided by Dr. Jeffrey Satinover, M.D. (psychiatrist) in his book HOMOSEXUALITY AND THE POLITICS OF TRUTH (Available from AMAZON) homosexuals are three times more likely to abuse children sexually than heterosexuals.

Yes, there are more heterosexual pedophiles than homosexual pedophiles. This is because a much higher percentage of he population is heterosexual. However, the smaller percentage of homosexuals are committing a disproportionate number of the child abuse cases. A homosexual pedophile will abuse more children than his hetero counterpart, and will abuse one particular child again and again. I have seen case histories where a homosexual pedophile has abused up to 300 little boys, and some of them repeatedly many times.

Here is an example that is hard to refute.

In the R.C. church most of the priests are heterosexuals. Yet it is the comparatively smaller percentage of homosexual priests who are creating the sex scandals around the world molesting thousands of young boys, and costing the church millions of dollars in hush money, out of court settlements, court costs, fines, and compensation. Some parishes have had to sell off lands and buildings to avoid closing altogether.

Yes, there are heterosexual priests who have come on to a female child, or had straight “affairs”. But the percentage is small by comparison. It is the smaller number of gay priests who have created the costly pedophile scandals world wide and continue to do so.

Many see this as evidence that pedophilia is more common among homosexuals than among heterosexuals.

Regardless of who commits the offence (male or female) a sexual assault against a child should be reported immediately to the police. Not to do so should be a criminal offence.

It is hard to believe that any government is serious about sexual assaults against children that does not have a law in place making it a crime for ANYBODY to be aware of a sexual assault against a child and not report it to the police. This is most serious when it includes mothers who learn that their boyfriend or husband is molesting one of their children and does not report it to the police because he is the “breadwinner” or she is receiving money from him because this amounts to “pimping” the child. It must also include babysitters, teachers, doctors, nurses, counselors, social workers, foster care case workers, etc.

The authorities need to tighten the screws when it come to
supervising foster homes and watching out for foster children. Most foster parents are loving caring people. I know some of them and have nothing but appreciation for them. But those who work in the field of foster care are well aware that there are too many exceptions.

I think fathers who dont play an active role in the lives of their kids are abusers. Mothers who prevent kids from having a relationship with their father to spite the man are also abusers. Children are out future and the ones who will be active in society when we are too old to be a part of it. No form of neglect should come to them. Good initiative by Ms. Azille and her team lets focus on the youth of our nation.

Fathers abuse their girls, sexually as well , no one says nothing , the mothers cover it up and blame other young boys who are friends with their daughters. Is time that the Welfare visit schools especially secondary school and seat one on one with the girls as well as boys.
These kids tell their friends but afraid to tell the right persons.
School visits is important is time to act NOW before its too LATE.
IS there also anonymous hotline to call , to report any cases of abuse.

Apparently the concern is not grieve enough because when they are called nothing is being done, i know for a fact cause i have made one of those calls, i have never seen them acted on a hint given, i have called gone to the office and NOTHING…I think our nation is full of talkers and nothing to back it up.

  6. November 20, 2013

You all need to set up a hotline number. This is crazy. It makes me sick.

    • December 25, 2015

There should be a hotline number children or teens can phone (a) to report abuse, or (b) to talk to a trained child or teen counselor about sexual abuse, physical abuse, or any mental health problem. This should be a toll free number available nation wide. The organization doing this should work with the Police and Children’s Aid, etc.

Every school should have a trained and trusted person the children know they can talk to about any personal problem in confidence. The students should know who this person is and where to find him or her. There should be such a person appointed in each school so they can be reached when they are needed.

Child abuse (sexual or otherwise) is a big problem. This is a battle that must be fought on many fronts
with maximum co-operation from people in all walks of life. It will not be won until more is done on a wider scale than we have been doing.

      Sincerely, Rev. Donald Hill. Evangelist.

This is so sad. Please inform us of some of the warning signs.

    • December 25, 2015

      Some of the warning signs?

      (1) Children become withdrawn. Staying in their rooms rather than being with the family .

      (2) Less talkative with family members.

      (3) Less interest in school work. Grades slipping.

      (4) Noticeable change in eating and sleeping habits. Not eating and sleeping well.

      (5) Showing an unusual dislike or aversion towards another (older) family member, friend, or neighbor, etc., and shying away from their presence.

      6) Something is bothering the child but you can’t put your figure on it.

      (7) An older adult showing an undue interest in a child or teen wanting to be with them, etc. It may appear innocent. Offering to babysit, take them places: to a game, concert, picnic, a hike, etc. Help with homework, tutoring, etc.

      Sincerely, Rev. Donald Hill. Evangelist.

Thankfully, you came out with this. Physical, mental, sexual, psychological abuse must be dealt with seriously by authorities. We have for a long time ignored, neglected this in the past but we can now admit that there is a problem, that we are in a national crises that must be taken before the press, and we are going to fight it head on. Stigmatization is destructive to all and society itself. Today we have all witnessed girls doing better than boys in schools from public to college, and we are noticing the destructive programs which society itself are suffering from. Some of this is due to stigmatization but, the longer we neglect this problem, the more difficult we can expand as a free society while we continue to experience D/ca growing up slower than the rest of the Caribbean. Whether boy or girl, all members of society must be protective, given protection, and examined for the good of themselves and others. Ms. Lewis is on track here and it will take society to make life better for all.

Some boy’s are abused by men, then they grow up in the community where they are abused by the community because they are now gay. That’s why you can’t go around beating up people that have different sexual orientation.

Oh, please, we are born with our characteristics.

      • April 8, 2015

“We are born with our characteristics.”

Is this why men have married women, fathered children, and then left their families to live with another man in a sodomite relationship?

Is this why women have married, had children, and then left to live with another woman?

These are not rare incidences. I know of many such cases. One woman left her husband and children. Her little girl asked her father, “Doesn’t mommy love us any more?” A man who was once a fiend of mine left his wife and two sons and later went to live with a gay bank manager. He committed suicide.

People who thought they were born homosexual have been changed by the grace of God and have married and lived happily with their opposite gender spouses. In some cases they have had children.

People born with a mental or psychological problem should receive whatever help is available to change the same as somebody who is born with a physical problem.

Sincerely, Rev. Donald Hill, D.D. International…

      You make absolutely no sense.

    • April 8, 2015

In spite of the studies that have been published and the cases we actually see there are still people who say there is no relationship between homosexuality and pedophilia. This spiritual and intellectual blindness is in itself a symptom of the pathology called homosexuality.

The worst thing about this condition is the fact that once a man crosses the line into the dark world of same sex relations he opens his soul to demonic forces that sometimes lead him into the most horrific and gruesome crimes known to mankind. Because of the new equality laws in some countries and the work of civil rights organizations it is becoming difficult for the media to even publish the full truth about some of these crimes and make it known that the offenders were homosexuals.

Christians must continue to stand on the Word of God and tell the world uncompromisingly what God says.

Sincerely, Rev. Donald Hill. International Evangelists.
