Apology, retraction statement

Dominica News Online (DNO) is hereby setting the record straight concerning comments on Dominica News Online, www.dominicanewsonline.com, made against Urias J. Moses of the Physical Planning Division, Commonwealth of Dominica.

The comments were written by a poster named ‘Massacre’ on February 1, 2011 under the story entitled: “Planning division to tackle illegal construction”.

DNO would like to make it clear that this statement is untrue and is nothing but a malicious attempt to stain the name and reputation of Urias J. Moses.

DNO hereby sincerely apologise for the statements made against Urias J. Moses in the said comment posted by Massacre and regrets any inconvenienced caused as a result of the offending statement.

The statement at no time reflects or reflected the views of the management and staff of Andrews Publishing Co. Ltd and it’s business Dominica News Online or any affiliated enterprise.

Intense internal investigations by DNO revealed that it was highly unlikely that any of the DNO administrators approved such a comment. Further investigations revealed that the site’s security may have been compromised around the time the comment was published, which points to a deliberate attempt by a reader to sully the good name of Urias J. Moses and to entrap Dominica News Online. DNO would not have dared to willfully post such a comment.

The management and staff of DNO never held or do not hold any malice, ill-intent or bias against Urias J. Moses, and again we sincerely apologise to Mr. Moses.

Going forward, DNO will increase our vigilance in the moderation of the comments and will take decisive action against anyone who attempts to compromise the site’s security and his/her campaign to sully the good name of our company and any individual.
