Boiling Lake named among “World’s Strangest Lakes”

boiling lakeImagine walking through a far-flung island of forest and stumbling across a bright, pink lake. Or quietly rowing your boat through a sea of floating lotus flowers that expand as far as the eye can see. Dreamy? Yes, but also completely possible if you consider a visit to one of the world’s strangest lakes.

Because lakes are mostly contained ecosystems, they have the uncanny ability to evolve in ways you might expect to come from the imagination of Dr. Seuss. Like Spotted Lake in Canada, which is considered one of the most bizarre natural wonders in the world, transmogrifying from an average-looking alpine lake into a field of gigantic green polka dots every summer.

Lovely Dominica, take it or leave. The creator of heaven and earth has blessed us with such awesome things, our limited mind will never comprehend, so while we have a short time on the earth, enjoy, give praise and keep Dominica as mother nature gave it to us. Stop the negativity and give thanks and praise, we are just passing. Stop the fighting and spread Love and Peace.

Beautiful boiling lake. I also boast of it even though I have not yet visited it. It is far and not yet vehicle-roadworthy. This is not being critical. I have seen pictures of it and some who visited there told me of their experience. I also have a postcard of it. Those who visit the lake are brave and also fortunate to have persevered to view it.
A boiling lake is indeed strange. Imagine, it could boil an egg and also burn and boil toes  if anyone makes the mistake of as much as testing the water with their toes. I know someone whose foot was burned in the lake. The person told me of that experience. Well, those who visit there must be careful.
Some years ago I heard the water had dried up and there were rumblings. It is back to normal. The lake is really a strange happening.
Hopefully, someday a road could be constructed to the boiling lake. It would attract more tourists. However, the area would have to be preserved in order to maintain its beauty.

This is so beautiful(the lake). Please don’t build no road to go there. If a road is built people will go and destroy its beauty. You will not sweat or really enjoy the joy of seeing one of the worlds beauty. I love my Dominica. Dominicans we are bless be thankful and don’t complain. This is the most peaceful country on earth. A place where cops could sit relax and don’t worry to much. Dominican lets just be thankful for our lakes, rivers, flowers, waterfall, plants, fruits and veggies. Lets be careful before someone take our country from us and enjoy what God bless us with. Isle of beauty Isle of splendor.

Enjoy the Boiling Lake while it is still around as it could soon be siphoned by the Geothermal Power Station.

I didn’t know that my fellow Dominicans are that IGNORANT, LAZY and STUPID. Why are we always looking for the easy way out? A road to the boiling lake will be a disaster to the same thing we are trying to promote, ECOTOURRISM. Let us all be careful with what we wish for.

Walking to the lake is part of the beauty. Why does anyone need a road. You NEED boots, some old pants because you have to drag yourself according to your age or flexibility. A walking stick to help you along the way and light food and water.

Thanks to every one who took pictures of it , those who place it on the internet and in book, cause I would never be able to walk to see that lake, I know it is costly to build a road to get to it, If the road to the airport is taking so many years to finish far more for the boiling lake. Thanks again,

…..And it would have gotten so much traffic that the ecosystem would have been destroyed years ago.

The amount of typos in your comment is atrocious. So, you’re saying, build roads to Boiling Lake… hmm… to damage the wildlife and such…

Based on your comments I wonder why aren’t there roads up Mount Everest. We Dominicans just cannot appreciate what we have. We only have negative comments to make. Part of the attraction is the hike. You may not like it but there are many who do.

@ DAHMAN…..Why don’t you start building the road or just build it since no one else is doing it?
It’s not hard at all to do. Just dig and dig and dig … DIG till you can dig no more . :-P Or if you are Macho Man, dig all the way to the lake and tell us how hot your feel.
