An earthquake shook the town of Portsmouth and other parts of the northern section of  Dominica on Tuesday morning.

The UWI Seismic Research Centre said the earthquake took place at 8:36 am.

It measured 4.1 on the Richter scale.

The epicenter of the quake was located 50 km north of Roseau and 58 km SSE of Point-à-Pitre, Guadeloupe at a depth of five kilometers.

Roman Catholic Priest, Fr. Herman Sharplis described what he experienced during the quake on Q95’s The Hot Seat on Tuesday.

“I am not a scientist to decide what depth it was but certainly it was a very strong earthquake,” he stated.

He said the shaking was ‘massive’ but short.

An earthquake destroyed the 150-year-old Roman Catholic church building in Portsmouth in 2004.

So far there are no reports of damage from the quake.

    Pure Possie,

This one is for your attention as follows below:

I would like to ascertained these comments from you

    1) Why would Dominica be a better place without possie?, and that you meant it with all your heart Yes you have an opinion ,However, I am in total disagreement with You stating Portsmouth has crippled Dominica with their LABAR and that’s why we are so backward. ( Yo

I am proud to be a Labourite through and through and myself with the past and present family are certainly not backward.

You need to have a look at the bigger picture first and foremost beginning with youself.

    2) Are you from Portsmouth,
    3) Are you backward?

Earthquakes does destroys and many people can be killed depending on how high the Richter scale is.

In my view and opinion this is not something to be joking about as nature can be very it is a serious. All we have to do is watch and pray. Thank the Lord that we did not have any form of damage .

    I look forward to…

Pure possie you really have jokes. You right possie people like to say LABAR. They dont mind staying hungry but give them their LABAR. The pastor knew why he called them ‘sot’. Now the lyrics is that they kick out the pastor thinking they would get someone better. My cameras are watching

It was an earthquake. You who love to deviate from the subject matter, get back to it, the issue.
Thank God it was not a bigger one. It could have been disastrous. I do not think Portsmouth could withstand another one given what occurred when the last one struck.
Lord, please protect Portsmouth and its people. Thank you Lord!

Happy no one got hurt or killed, thank God for that. However, Dominica would be a better place without Portsmouth because the people there are too damn politically blind and foolish, and they are the real reason why Dominica is so backward. The Pastor was right, when he referred to them as “Sacwe zort.” They hated Charles Savarin when he ran in Portsmouth for the DFP, and they would vote Tiger as DLP candidate instead of Savarin. But see them today adoring Savarin as a god because he and Skerrit disguised themselves into Labor.

You saying everyone has their opinion but yet you saying Dominica with people like me? Portsmouth has crippled Dominica with their LABAR and that’s why we are so backward. DNO please correct your error. it north of Portsmouth and not north of Roseau

ADMIN:The UWI reports said 50 km north of Roseau. UWI reports normally use the main town or city as a point of reference.

50 KM North (N) of Roseau and 58KM South South East (SSE) of Pointe-A-Pitre… That is correct reporting. These reports usually make reference to the main town centres in each country… So ANGEL you must be a DEVIL in disguise… or you real foolish like the rest of GWANTANSE : lol:

So 100 km, say 60 miles from Roseau to Pointe-a- Pitre? How come it is so expensive to fly there and yet LIAT can not make a profit? They must be either very inefficient or someone is draning of money somewhere.
