BREAKING NEWS: Missing nine-year-old found

Natifah is nine years old

A nine-year-old child who was reported missing by her relatives has been found.

A relative confirmed that Natifah Desbonnse was found on Monday afternoon and she is presently at the hospital.

No further details are available at this time since the relative said the parents are still being questioned by the police.

Reports are that Natifah’s mother left her at home doing some work on Sunday morning at around 11:00 and went to the beach to soak a broken leg in sea water.

She returned about an hour and a half to two hours later and realized Natifah was not at the table doing her work.

The mother called the child but there was no answer.

“The mother thought she went to her grandmother’s home nearby,” nadia Joseph, an aunt said, adding that it as Natifah’s habit to go there to play.

Joseph said Natifah’s mother thought that she would come home later with her father from the grandmother’s home.

However, when the father returned home later in the day, the child was not with him and he said he had not seen her.

The grandmother also said she had not seen Natifah for the entire day.

Frantic calls were made to all friends, relatives or acquaintances, but no one had seen the child.

She was reported missing on Monday morning.

DNO is following this development and will provide further information as it becomes available.

but no one is saying where the child was found or what happened. Give the full story or none at all. Thanks!

How could a responsible mother leave her 9 year old child alone at home to go to the beach for 2hrs. Total negligence. Why couldn’t the child go to the beach with her.

We feel for the mother for true but was it because of she mistreating the child that caused her to run away? even children get fed up of being abused.

Now that she is found, I hope, whatever befell her, she will be healed in time.
The mother did not give it a thought that her daughter would disappear and would be harmed in anyway. However, she should not have been left alone especially if the doors and windows were unlocked. If they were locked, she should have advised her, do not open the door to anyone especially whom she did not recognize. Even then, if the latter knew she was alone, you know, temptation set in for molesting a young girl. I hope the mother learned a lesson.

I cant understand why we are so quick to blame the police for crimes that we commit. Instead we should help and encourage them in solving crimes. We have to be the ears and eyes of the police and treat them with respect so that things will not get worst.

if the grandmother’s home is nearby why didn’t the mother bring natifah for the granny to watch? when are you parents going to learn? do not leave minors by themselves. them man tackling big adult much less for little children.

oh and ummmm….i am pretty sure there is no fresh water at the beach…..so if she go to the SEA / BEACH it must be sea water…………..

    learn from that experience, parent

    • July 11, 2017

      The people want to know:

      Where was she found?

      How did she get there?

      Did somebody take her there?

Did anybody bother, touch, or molest her?

The bottom line is this child should not have been left alone. This in itself was unkind. Most natural thing for her to get lonely and wonder off.

      Sincerely, Rev. Donald Hill.

      Who was she with?

Your hope was the best wishes; having assumed in your head that someone (Mal vawa) may well be involved .why are you guys always thinking the worst in every circumstance . see all where you go awready and now is the mother who is arrested.
you guys need to stop and think before you write .
you really sound like a mal vawa yourself this time, having those thoughts .

the thoughts were well intended . The CDPF needs the two seach dogs to search the mothers home ?
allu must not always jump the gun with your remarks .
The CDPF had this under control all along , NOW CONGRATULATE THEM FOR THE OUTCOME .
i.e without search dogs , search party , and the whole community , thank God for that ..

  27. July 10, 2017

This is a nine-year-old child you are talking about and not nineteen. How can the police suggest that worried parents, who have no idea where their little girl is can relax? Did the police help in the search for the child? So much evil wicked actions are taking place in Dominica that even though I have no idea who the child is it worries me quite a lot. Dominica is moving and improving in the wrong direction for a little island. Someone must have seen or known something. Did she go further to play or follow a stranger? It is now 24 hours.I s there any precipice close to to the neighborhood? If there anybody would know or see something say something. This is a very serious matter which I hope should have a happy.

Now this is not real you stat blaming someone you all must take time and think before commenting
if is not government is the police fault no body to blame but the child mother for living the child alone
then the police should file charges against her .

Why is a 9-year-old home alone for almost two hours? People please, Dominica is no longer safe anymore. This is not the Dominica we use to know 15-20 years ago. I lock my front door every time I go in, that’s how scary this country has become.

@disturbed – stop the exaggeration. what you think Dominica has become? Like really? Don’t you think that persons all over the world are reading your ignorance. What kind of publicity is that for Dominica. People must start to use their head wisely. if you have nothing nice to say, read and stay calm,

      • Emile Dominique
        July 10, 2017

@ Sassy….. The world is becoming less safe and Dominica is following. That is because of the hatred being spread all over the land in the name of politics. @ Disturded is quite right. By taking him/ her to task and calling people names you are just contribution to the hatred which did not exist before. Dominica has a problem of safety and we all have to pay attention to prevent this problem and find solutions before it goes out of control.

      • Let The Truth Be Known - Original
        July 10, 2017

Disturbed is correct. What did this person state to be foolish? Your mind and interpretation are warped.
There is nothing that people all over the world do not know. I have stated that Dominica is not what it used to be. We must admit it. The entire world is not what it used to be.
I agree with disturbed. Those who were younger in that era, as also adults know this to well.
I recall we would sleep with the upper part of our windows opened. During the day our front door was not locked until we all went to sleep. There were times at nights the door remained unlocked.
In those days there was only one key for the door. Our parents had custody of it. After we finished school, when we went to social gatherings, there were times the door was unlocked.
When the door was locked, there was also a special place the key was placed so that when we returned home we could take it and unlock the door. Today, all this is unheard of. Houses are under lock and key.

Grow up[ Sassy. Why you think your P.M. is afraid to walk alone in Roseau and must have his security escort with him all the time. There is a message there, no? The time for pretending is over. The story of Red riding Hood became a reality in Dominica and the kind grandmother turned into a wolf.
