A number of charitable organizations and individuals have benefitted from donations totaling $80,000 from the Elias Nassief Foundation.

The presentations were made at the foundation’s 20th donations and awards ceremony, held at the Fort Young Hotel on Thursday.

The Foundation also named its Entrepreneurs of the Year at the event.

“This year our total contribution will be $80,000 and this is to celebrate our 20th Anniversary,” Chairman of the Foundation, Phillip Nassief said while addressing the ceremony.

According to him each year, since the establishment of the Foundation in 1995, it has distributed an average of $70,000 annually over the past 20 years.

Nine thousand dollars of the donation went to the Day Care Centres; $20,5000 went to Preschools and Primary Schools; $12,500 went to Care for the Elderly; $10,000 of Special Contributions went to Dominica Nurses Association, St Ann’s Church in Massacre, Parish of Our Lady of Fatima, Alpha Centre and Wisdom to know; $15,000 went to five retired employees.

Entrepreneur of the Year awards went to Menelik Pascal, who is currently pursuing studies at the State University in New York in International Business and Global Supplies Management and Angela Laurent, 73, of Petite Savanne who is engaged in bay oil production in that community since 1970. An amount of $10,000 was made available towards the Entrepreneur of the Year award.

Three centenarians, Graham Antonius Adams, 105, of St. Joseph, Josephine Henry, 105, of Mahaut and Anestasie Belrina Eusebe, 103, of La Plaine, received contributions amounting to $3000.00.

The Elias Nassief Foundation was founded in 1995 by the children of late Elias and Marie Nassief.

Over the years, the Foundation has been making annual Christmas donations to different organizations across the island including those who care for the sick, elderly and young persons.

Mr. Phillip Nassief is a very nice man with a kind heart. He has done a very good deed to me which I will never forget. I knew his Father too. Short old man. Don’t know how they happened to amass so much wealth and thousands of acres of Land on this small Island.

The foundation may have to consider adopting some the many employees of the now defaulted Coconut Products/colgate Palmolive especially the less fortunate ones with extended family to support – just a suggestion for consideration – as little as it is, because some of those folks are going to have it really hard going forward.

    Congrats to the Foundation.

Giving back to your community is next to godliness. To the Nassief’s, the almighty will reward.

This is a good move and a lesson we all should learn, that is not all rich people are greedy.Every one cannot be rich.
There will always be some among you who are poor therefore I command you, saying “You shall open your hand wide to your brother,to your poor and your needy in your land.” Deuteronomy 15:11
    And the Saviour said.
“For you have the poor with you always……..Matthew 26:11
You don’t lift the poor by bringing down the rich.

    Thank you Mr Nassief.

Thank you for your immense help to the needy. The Lord is pleased with those who give to the needy. He blesses them.
As I recall, Mr and Mrs. Elias Nassief were nice people. They were hardworking people who made Dominica their home. There is no doubt they loved Dominica as well.
    God bless their souls.
It is obvious their children followed in their footsteps. They, too, are nice people.
God bless you and for establishing a charitable foundation in your parents’ name and continuing to work toward that cause.
The Lord is smiling on you and your good works. He is multiplying your sacrificial effort in this great cause of assisting the needy.

Great giving back. Petit Savanne represents for Grandbay that was Mr. Nassief’s purse. Thanks indeed

Giving back to Petite Savanne, a part of Grand Bay, St. Jerome’s Ministry from Grand Bay, and Wisdom to Know whose founder is from Grand Bay represents a most interesting twist in the Nassief – Grand Bay relationship, albeit through his Foundation. Good for the Nassiefs. Most commendable.
