Cher Dominique Foundation donates to Dominica

The Cher Dominique Foundation, based in Houston, Texas, donated a 40-foot container of food and supplies to Dominica.

The supplies valued at over five hundred thousand US dollar were distributed from February 2- 5, 2018, to the residents of the Kalinago Territory, Atkinson, Coulibistrie, Salisbury, Colihaut, Pointe Michel and Scotts Head.

Supplies were also donated to the Pioneer Preparatory School, the Grotto Home, the Social Centre and the Dominica Infirmary.

Cher Dominique Foundation, a non-profit organization, was founded two years ago to assist in providing school supplies to primary schools in Dominica.

Following Hurricane Maria in September 2017, the foundation shifted its focus to seeking donations to assist the people of Dominica in the recovery process.

President and founder of the Cher Dominique Foundation, Germaine Brumant- Bellot said the Foundation mobilized people and organized fund raising activities, collaborated and actively solicited help from various donors to assist with shipping costs and the provision of basic needs for the people of Dominica.

As a young organization and this being the first major donation, the foundation’s president Brumant-Bellot, was on hand to distribute the supplies to the various communities and institutions.

The shipment contained: non-perishable food, baby food and supplies, clothing, shoes, toiletries, water and much more.

“Cher Dominique recognizes that recovery is a long-term process and is committed to providing support by giving assistance wherever we can. We will continue to grow as a vibrant organization and intend to make a positive impact on the Dominican community,” Brumant- Bellot stated.

Back in the day a lot of Dominicans grew their own food in their backyard plots, they were self sufficient. The country produced a lot of their own produce.

too much donation and free food. It is high time that we begin to plant and grow our own food. ministry of Agriculture what is the scene with seedlings? what plans do you have to ensure that if we get another MAria we are not back to square one? We appreciate the donations when were were desperate, but this handout mentality is what is having us where we are right now. why must people act and think that government must rebuild their houses? or put food on their table? or depend on NGO’s to give us free stuff? Jobs must be created. the country is a mess there is much work to do, but yet we sit and wait for our next meal.

You could have said thank you! Show some gratitude, it goes a long way. These people begged and worked hard to secure these items for you, sometimes at great sacrifice to themselves. Where are your manners? It is attitudes like yours which have DA the way it is.
I wonder when last you planted a head of lettuce never mind a banana plant.

for me? I done accept rations and donations since October Say Moins Meme. I have been working hard to feed myself and my family ever since. since then if i was ever offered donations or rations i give it to old people who cannot work or feed themselves. I have sourced building materials from my own pocket to cover the roofs of people who genuinely CANNOT help them self. I not in this free hand out business to able, nothing to do people why cry all day and expect others like government to do for them. but i do like that you yourself Say Moins Meme use the word begged. no it is attitudes like YOURS that has dominica the way it is. We have lost our pride. We are now a nation of beggers. and if we dont get, we do nothing for ourselves. We like to act like we are so poor and cannot do for ourselves. that is not the case. Dont worry about my lettuce or banana, everybody cannot be a farmer. Worry when the ration s finish. what you will do next? Iwill see you downstairs financial center beggin
