China’s Ambassador to Dominica, Li Jiangning, has bid farewell to Dominica after two years and ten months.

A special reception was held in his honor at the Fort Young Hotel last Friday.

The event was attended by H.E. the Acting President Conrad Mcintyre, Hon Prime Minister Roosevelt Skerrit and Mrs. Skerrit, Government Ministers, and members of the diplomatic corps.

Prime Minister Skerrit commended the ambassador for his role in further strengthening ties between Dominica and the People’s Republic of China.

“I want you to leave with the knowledge that the relationship between Dominica and your country, China is even stronger and more profound than when you came. I have no doubt that your successor will continue in that vein,” he said.

The Ambassador remarked, “It is a great honor for me to be Ambassador to Dominica representing my beloved country, China. As Ambassador I have tried my best to enhance mutual understanding, promote exchanges at multiple levels and strengthen cooperation and friendship between our two countries and people.”

Something is not right on the surface of his response. It reeks of an apology to and pleas for forgiveness from his “beloved country, China.” A reprimand awaits him.

Since Dominica has ties with China and vice versa, it would be wise to learn the Chinese language. It would not hurt you. It would help you to communicate with the Chinese in Dominica and in the event you visited China
Then, you would have no reason to be sarcastic.about the gifts China gave to Dominica after TS Erika.
