A man from Cottage is now $245,000 richer after he won the Super-six jackpot of the Dominica National Lottery.
Andre Romain, 67, grabbed the jackpot after “quite a few years” of consistent playing.
He is the first winner of the jackpot this year.
When he went to collect his prize on Friday Romain told reporters that he has beeing playing faithfully every Wednesday at the same location, Anita Austrie’s Place, in Cottage.
“I never gave up … I keep buying once a week every Wednesday I buy … I heard the number came out and I went an check and I was the winner and I said ‘what?!’” he stated. “First time in my life I have ever won anything … Thank god.”
He explained that he always plays Quick Pick, “or usually when I do I replay for about six weeks and at the end of six weeks I try different numbers.”
“Always quick pick and one place every time I won’t buy any where else,” Romain noted.
Romain also encouraged other players to keep playing and never give up. “I think you should play whenever you can I think it’s very important,” he said.
He said the money came in at the right time. “I got some bills to pay and I got a structure that I am building … it came in just handy, I can tell you that,” he remarked.
The Super Six has been won in four other countries. Twice in St. Vincent, once in Grenada and once in St. Lucia.

It is stipulation by the Dominica lottery to publicize whoever wins. It is publicity for them to encourage other people to play.
