The Cuban Embassy has donated 1,200 energy saving light bulbs to the community of Colihaut.

This community was one of those worst hit by Tropical Storm Erika in August 2015. It is in this vein that the Cuban Embassy has offered its assistance.

At a short handing over ceremony at the Colihaut Constituency Office last week, Hon Parliamentary Representative for that Constituency, Catherine Daniel gratefully received the gift on behalf of her constituents.

“Some of the houses had to be rewired. People lost everything and will need lighting. This is timely and we really appreciate your assistance in this venture,” she said to the ambassador. “Dominican and Cuba have a great relationship and I am a product of that for which I am thankful. I appreciate the friendship which Cuba has established with us in Dominica and extended to communities where help is needed.”

Cuba’s Ambassador to Dominica, His Excellency Juan Carlos Frometa de la Rosa was pleased for the occasion to offer assistance.

He says Cuba has been helping Dominica especially in the area of education for the past 30 years and intends to continue.

“We will continue and this is the political will of the Cuban Government and people. We will continue helping Dominica in everything. As I always say, tell us in what way we can help and we will do it.”

The energy saving bulbs will be distributed to every household in the Colihaut community.

What has Dominica donated to Cuba lately? they need farm equipment and cannot get it because of the embargo, although we don’t use tractors, we can import it on their behalf and send it to them. one hand wash the other. instead of one way giving.

Very easy to sit behind your computer and spew simplistic drivel, isn’t it, you silly, silly human. Don’t forget to soak your sore wrists in salt water when you’re done patting yourself on the back.
