DNO announces new features

Dominica News Online is pleased to announce the introduction of two new features and the return of several others.

Ghost Stories, which is scheduled to run every Tuesday starting this week, will be a compilation of local folklore, first-hand account of real-life ghost stories, popular beliefs, and mysteries. Articles will be generated from reader and staff contributions and compilation of material from research.

Mr. Commonsense/John Focker, to be published every Wednesday starting this week, is a guest editorial focusing on national issues.

Features such as Dear Bella, Photo of the Day, and Nice Guy return after a three-month break.

Dear Bella, a sex and relationship advice column, moves from a daily schedule to publication on Tuesdays and Thursdays.

Nice Guy resumes on Fridays and Photo of the Day resumes daily publication.

Personality of the Week, renamed Personality of the Month, will give readers the opportunity to vote online for a top personality of the month out of a list of several news makers selected by DNO.

At the end of the year, readers will obtain the cool opportunity of selecting the DNO Personality of the Year from the top 12 personalities.

We would also like to implore readers to continue supporting Health Talk every Wednesday, the Alive Word Christian column on Mondays and Fridays, and the live chat and forum.

We are also interested in publishing obituaries, memorial, death, birthday, newborn and wedding announcements – at no cost; just email us photos and the information to [email protected].

We have also created a category called ‘Positive News’ where all positive news will be archived and available to read at any time for readers who complain that we carry nothing positive.

A Happy New Year to DON employees. You have done a great job, also allowing our comments which are greatly appreciated. I give you an “A” grade and more… :)
This is interesting news. I thank you for your overall consideration and improvement effort, to please your readers and of course those who provide comments on your Website, pro and con.
I am considering that there should also be a General Section. I wanted to send a Christmas and New Year Greeting to specifically you and also your readers (not individually to a specific person or persons which would obviously take up a lot of space) but was unable to do so in that, there is no section for this. Probably in the future you could consider it?

God bless you! With His Divine assistance, have a happy, healthy, peaceful and successful year!

omg i saw the strangest thing near st jo in the road one night on the way home from portsmouth, , it was a huge hairy bear it looked like but had the strangest face,i still tell people in the uk now to this day about it, my friend who was in the car with me, he just panicked and told me to keep on driving, i wanted to go back and see, but he was so scared it started to scare me a bit, i never saw it again.

so i am hoping some one has some sort of story that exsplains this prehaps, i look forward to reading it, instead of doom and gloom of violence and politicians….

The next is the o-be-ya thing. If this thing was real Hatians would be very rich. With the power to take money out of the world bank. This stupid thing is very missleading and can cause madness. And many men die because they think some stupid guard some rip-off artist give them can protect them. How sad.

I would like u to make it clear that those stories were not real.Like the soo-ko-ya thing which is accepted in dominica as real, and has cause pain to so much of our old folks. Old folks are beaten and accused as being blood suckers, which i think was created to kill off the older black persons who had no one to defend them.It is believed that these persons fly on brooms,I think if this was true every one would want one of these brooms,it would b easier to get around,no machanic, gas, tyers etc.then the police will have to get a few.Yes i am so sorry for these helpless people. If they report these attacks to the police the police take no action.MY attemp to get this thing out of the people.

I hope that more of us will read the messages of the Richardsons, at “Alive Word”, much more than we have done in the past year. As human beings we really must feed on the Word of God–“the food that stays good always and gives Life” John Chapter 6 Otherwise, we are simply nurturing death–our mortal state of darkness and futility–regardless of our status in this world.

Jesus said: “Behold I stand at the door and knock. If any one hears my voice and opens the door, I will come in to him and eat with him, and he with me” Revelation 3: 20

“Alive Word” on DNO represents the knock of Jesus, that we, Dominicans, should hear and open the door for Him. Our public comment, to what we have read and understood from those messages, is evidence that we are eating (believing, receiving, and conceiving) the Word of God, as we demonstrate the Fruits of Love–the wisdom and revelation of His Holy Spirit–Light in us, the Life that is of Jesus Christ, by faith. That is the only Life that will stand forever. We all should desire to conceive and give birth to this Life–I always write it with a capital L, with reverence to God and Love. Or else our ways of existing in this world are simply passing away!

    • Hey just giving my two cents
      January 3, 2011

I was really saying that myself Lizavier4Jesus. People seem not to be reading certain columns and “Alive Word” seem to be one of them. You can judge from the comments that some articles are not read at all.

Liz I do wish you a Jesus filled New year – Growing more and more with him this year and doing so with him comes the “Package” Oh what a wonderful package! All the goodies are there. All in that package for you and your family from myself and my family.

      All the best for 2011

Thanks to you HJGMTC. I hope that you do not mind me abbreviating your identity. I wish the same for you and your family.

I love you comments and especially the way you scold those who have missed the mark. They seem to respect your scolding as well, as I do not notice anyone barking back at you. Do not change your identity when you post comments, so I will know it is you. I will always be Lizavier4Jesus here.

Continue with Life in Jesus Christ, for yourself and for everyone in your family. Remember that every time you speak about God, you present yourself as His witness by your faith. And the more you are a witness for God, the more He will bless you with wisdom and knowledge of Him and His Love–which is Life in you.

May you have a year of joy and peace this year. Blessings! Liz Xavier

They hear the sermons in church; hopefully they go to church. They also have Holy Scriptures and religious information; also Religious TV and Radio. This may be the reason why they do not read the column.
It may also be that they are not listening and when they read the Scriptures, they soon forget what they hear.

James 1:22:25 – Doers of the Word – Be doers of the word and not hearers only, deluding yourselves. For if anyone is a hearer of the word and not a doer, he is like a man who looks at his own face in a mirror. He sees himself, then goes off and promptly forgets what he looked like. But the one who peers into the perfect law of freedom and perseveres, and is not a hearer who forgets but a doer who acts, such a one shall be blessed in what he does.

Some members of humanity are disobedient and stubborn for many years as well. It is only when hardship and illness befall them they may turn to God and expect Him to act swiftly and heal and help them immediately. God knows their hearts.
