DNO POLL: Should Catholic priests be allowed to marry?

The issue of priests being celibate has been mentioned by newly ordained Catholic deacon Branker John.

The new deacon who is on his way to the priesthood, said during an earlier period when he resided in Dominica he didn’t pay much attention to the call to religious life.

“I knew something was going on but I didn’t want to hear it …  it meant I had to be celibate and I didn’t want to deal with that,” John explained.

The celibate aspect of the priesthood appears to have been a stumbling block for many a potential priest – some who say they considered that vocation just had great difficulty that they would have to abstain from sex for the rest of their lives.

So is it time for the Roman Catholic Church to review that policy.
