DNO POLL: Should Dominica welcome gay cruise passengers?

A "gay" ship in Roseau on Wednesday

Should Dominica welcome gay cruise passengers – readers are being asked to vote “yes” or “no” on that question.

On Wednesday there was mixed reaction when it became public knowledge that the cruise ship in port was apparently carrying only male passengers.

Word also surfaced later that a homosexual couple had been engaged in sexual activity in contravention of the country’s buggery laws.

Police Chief Cyrille Carrette confirmed that two males from California, John Robert Hart and Dennis Jay Mayer, had been charged with buggery and indecent exposure and were expected to appear in court.

The idea of gay cruise ship visits has sparked debate in several Caribbean destinations, with some more flexible than others on the subject.

Please vote “yes” or “no” or “not sure” on whether you think this country should welcome gay cruise visitors.
