I don’t think our calypso have ever been showcased at the Creole Festival. If am wrong please correct me.

The festival should include peformances by the most popular calypso. not only that of the King.

I think the date of carnival should be put somewhere in the months leading up to creole festival.

And as part of the Creole Package who ever wins the competition should secure a performance at the Creole Festival because Calypso is also part of the creole culture.

Also as part of the Creole Festival the Carnival Queen should be showcased somewhere in the festival. Giving an introductory speech or something. But the Calyso queen and queen should have a reemergence at the Creole festival. is Reggae is creole I don’t see why Calypso cannot be.

The carnival date is not the problem!!! The carnival committee is the problem!! The committee should be reshuffled..Need new people with new and innovative ideas!! Even if we change the date and don’t market the carnival properly we are still gonna get the same results!!!
The best advise is tackle the schools and communities..Every village should have a carnival committee.. Schools can raise funds during school year..That will help with purchasing costumes!!
Again I say The date is not the PROBLEM!!

If it aint broke, don’t fix it.
Besides, why trade the summer heat for the relative cool of spring?

The date can be changed if it will be beneficial to us. I know T&T, The neighboring French territories including St. Martin also stage their carnival at the same time although to compete with these countries would be the ideal thing because if we change the date I’m afraid the standard of the carnival won’t improve.
We need to start marketing our carnival, I also think that Creole festival has taken priority over the staging of carnival; we place too much emphasis on sponsors for village carnival and forget the national event.
The opening of the village carnival prior to the national event should be the day of the their carnival if there is to have one, the village carnival takes a lot away from the major event itself therefore it should not be held together with the City’s carnival.
Changing the date isn’t going to make a difference.
Also greater participation could mean a cheaper cost in terms of the price for costumes and so on.
The difference has to start with us. So my answer is NO the date should not be changed.
