Speak to your target audience in a language they understand. The magazine is written in Dutch. The author was not awarded a Caribbean Travel Writers Award by the Caribbean Tourism Organization because of his/her feature on Dominica as you are trying to make Dominicans understand. The Caribbean’s primary language is English. Why would an American/British/Canadian tourist want to read a magazine written in Dutch? Dominica is not on the cover. Leslassa is on the cover. She is not Dominica. Time you guys bury this mulatto shit and get proper representation for Dominica and stop parading this young lady as the face of Dominica. She is not.

      Good Day Ms. Theodore,

A very interesting comment. The hate within yourself is evidently strong.

However, if you have the time to spare, I shall share some wisdom with you. While the majority of tourists to Dominica have been historically of the US, UK, Canada & France, you should also be aware that the Dutch are not new to the caribbean and have been traveling to the region for decades with their primary destinations being the Dutch antilles. However, in addition to the Dutch, the German and Scandinavian nationals are doing significantly more travel due to the general strength of their respective economies.

The author was indeed awarded by the CTO for his piece on his travels to Dominica… and given that tourism is effectively the selling of your local experience to a foreign market, how else would you expect a dutch writer for a dutch magazine in holland to write his piece? in Chinese?

Finally, and more importantly I believe. I am pretty sure that Ms. Leslassa, and all dominicans, have no control over the circumstances of their birth… irregardless of what ever classification you wish to place on her, whether racially, socially, or any other way, the young lady has represented and showcased Dominican internationally with great passion and dedication.

I would love to hear how you think Dominica should be represented… last time I checked this was a nation of many varied individuals.

      Bless.
