Dominica is currently being featured in the March 2016 issue of the Backpacker Magazine, an American publication which provides information on wilderness hiking and adventure to ultimate adventurers (www.backpacker.com).
In May 2014, Dominica was pleased to host travel writer and contributing editor to Backpacker Magazine, Kelly Bastone who composed the article on Dominica.
While on island, Ms. Bastone accompanied by a photographer, hiked key segments of the Waitukubuli National Trail, the Boiling Lake and Middleham Falls, as well as visited other sites and attractions.

The Discover Dominica Authority believes that hosting press trips to Dominica will have great promotional benefits for the destination and its tourism niche sectors.
The author gets a free vacation (travel and hosted) and is hardly objective. I am certain she did not photograph litter, environmental destruction, or appalling infrastructure, nor mention the sub-standard facilities and crime.

great article good exposure for dominica and also an eye opener for dominica i.e “exports nothing of consequence.”….”its banana industry collapsed after losing battles with fungal blights and bigger Central American producers, and its rum is just so-so.” “Nor does Dominica attract many tourists””Even its primary airport remains small-scale, because there’s no place on the island flat enough for long, jumbo-jet runways.”these were the only saddening parts of the article :everything else was positive and uplifting making me feel good to be Dominican we have to embrace the good and work on the bad .I QUOTED the bad to open our eyes on what needs to be corrected for us to keep moving up ! the good was way too much to quote :
