Dominica Lions and Leo Clubs host regional meeting

The Dominica Lions and Leo Clubs will be hosting the Lions Regional 2 meeting at the Fort Young Hotel from February 2 to February 4.

In attendance will be high ranking officials of the club including Region 2 Chairperson, Lion Lisandra Havertong, MJF; the First Vice District Governor, Lion Claudius ‘Tony’ Buncamper, MJF; Past District Governor, Lion Wally Havertong MJF, as well as the Zone 2C Chairman, Lion Leslie Ephraim MJF and over 50 delegates representing clubs from the islands comprising Region 2.

Lion and Leo Club Region 2 spans the Virgin Islands in the north to Dominica in the south.

Participants at the meeting will engage in discussion on the implementation and assimilation of the Sub-District Strategic Plan for the next four years.

Following this Club Presidents will report to their Zone Chairpersons on projects and activities conducted to date. Finally, the regional meeting will take place on Saturday morning when the Region Chairperson, Lion Lisandra Havertong, will hear reports on clubs in the various zones.

Other activities scheduled include a Cultural Extravaganza on Friday and tours of the island on Saturday afternoon. The event concludes with a grand dinner and dance in honor of the Region Chairperson on Saturday evening at Fort Young.

The Club recently hosted a Lions’ Zone 2C meeting last October but it has been about nine years since the Dominica Lions have had the privilege of hosting a meeting at the Regional level.

President of the Dominica Lions Club, Lion Diana Angol, says that local Lions and Leos are pleased that the Club has inspired the confidence of the Region Chairperson, as not only will the Club benefit from the experience but more so it is an opportunity to showcase Dominica as a great tourist destination.

She urges all Dominicans who will come into contact with visiting Lions to join local Lions in extending the warm welcome and hospitality that our Nature Isle has been noted for.

The Club has been a member of the International Association of Lions Clubs since 1968.

It is a charitable, non-profit, service organization.
