Dominica has once again made it on the list of the top ten ethical travel destinations in the world.

The list for 2016 has just been released by the California-based nonprofit organization, Ethical Traveler, of the “10 most forward-thinking countries in the developing world.”

According to Ethical Traveler, each country is reviewed for its performance in the areas of human rights, social welfare, animal welfare and environmental protection. Each country also needs to have plenty of appeal as a travel destination.

“By spending travel dollars in forward-thinking countries, explorers can reward the good guys — and encourage humane practices worldwide,” the Ethical Traveler’s report said.

According to the report, Dominica made it to the list for its cautious progress in respecting and guaranteeing Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual and Transgender (LGBT) rights and for leading other Caribbean islands in the area of healthcare, education and the development of geothermal energy.

First timer, Grenada, is the only other Caribbean country on the list.

The 2016 winners, in alphabetical order, are:

1. Cape Verde
2. Dominica
3. Grenada
4. Micronesia (Federated States)
5. Mongolia
6. Panama
7. Samoa
8. Tonga
9. Tuvalu
10. Uruguay

To compile its reports, Ethical Traveler gets its information from sources including Freedom House, the Millennium Challenge Corporation, Reporters Without Borders, UNICEF, LGBT resources and the World Bank, and focuses on four categories: environmental protection, social welfare, human rights and animal welfare.

Dominica made it to the list in 2010, 2014, 2015 and now 2016.

LOL Laborites swear the article saying Dominica made it to the top because of an ethical government.
    In case you missed it

“According to the report, Dominica made it to the list for its cautious progress in respecting and guaranteeing Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual and Transgender (LGBT) rights and for leading other Caribbean islands in the area of healthcare, education and the development of geothermal energy.”

Among top 10. Placed in alphabetical order.

    Dominica is a beautiful island.
    Its scenery is gorgeous.
It is a great place for a vacation.
It is peaceful and quiet to a certain extent.

The only concern are criminals who have no respect for nationals and visitors/tourists. They could cause general visitors to avoid Dominica. I realize no exception in other parts of the West Indies.
When people travel, they want a place where they could have an enjoyable time, free of being concerned about this evil which has permeated the West Indies in general.

Its Doesn’t give a clear description of the countries in the order they were rated.Alphabetical order does n`t
identify proper placing of that formation.

:?: I love Waitukubuli and would love it to be the top in all good aspects, cause i’m really sad and sorry for the state it has been.I’m looking among the list of countries that it is said to be ranking and i have questions :?: The lgbt community are amongst those ranking it and i’m trying to put one and one together;skerrit being knighted by the constantinian order of st.georges,a roman catholic hierachy of the illuminati. Also one of those behind the legalisation of homosexuality, the baroness being a representation of the constantinian order, being selected by skerrit singlehandedly to head the commonwealth while she represents the british in their quest to have the islands change their buggary laws. The baroness top agenda is to have the governments change laws to facilitate homosexuality, draw the conclusion people :?: Cause it cannot be based on environment and geothermal that we arrived amongst the ten top :?:

Those whose position involve dealing with the public are to project they are for the people and not one segment of society. This is the problem. In order to retain their position they must adhere to what the majority wants.
You have overlooked the UN and other organizations. The UN is first and foremost. You must read about the UN. There are a few others who pressure other countries and those in high positions to institute immorality. Sadly, they are up against us. What we must do is to pray and keep praying. This is what God wants of us. One day He will do the rest, just what He has to do as He has ordained.

Hopefully the Dominican tourism board uses this information when marketing our nation.

I would put signs up announcing this at every air and sea port in the country.

I wonder why so many of us dislike our country. Those comments shows a complete lack of patriotism.

Patriotism is to be honest to the truth at all times and to your country when it deserves it. what is your take on that?

    Which do we believe?

This ethical thing about Dominica is somewhat unbelievable!

“Tried and trust destinations look set to benefit from geopolitical uncertainty and it is likely that Spain will be 2016’s top destination: bookings are already tracking well ahead of 2015. Likewise, other European destinations like Portugal and Italy are seeing healthy numbers and are also benefiting from a strong pound bringing down the cost of day to day expenses for British holidaymakers,” the report found. “Away from Europe, ABTA members have reported that bookings to Cuba, Cape Verde, Kenya and Thailand have been very healthy for 2015 and are looking positive for 2016. Demand for Jamaica, Barbados, and the [United Arab Emirates] is also strong for 2016.”

and how much did it cost the government to put that up there? There is no way Dominica ranking second on this. That’s a sham

You know Dominica has to be always at the top of everything; however, no matter how high we rate our country, better than the rest, our best never shows in the economy. We are supposed to be benefiting from our popularity of our nature island, yet the treasure is empty, the nation is bankrupt!

Venezuela will no longer be our supporter, Shavez did not leave anything in his Will for Skerrit, and Nature island. The economy of China is on the decline, so soon they will not be in a position to aid Skerrit when he goes to China crawling on his belly begging China for help; like a yellow Mountain Chicken Crapo running to escape from kid me!

Hahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahhah! I hear when that Crapo wake in the mornings his first worry is about me wondering what kind of heat I will light under him for the day!

The government didn’t have to pay because this article is not saying we are the best destination because of our hotels, beaches, and promoting tourism on a whole. The article simply stating a batty man will be more welcome in Dominica than any other Caribbean country. I mean come on. I am in the US and I see ads of Barbados, Bahamas, ST. Martin and so many islands promoting their tourism product and never Dominica. Shameless labourites will try to grab on to a twig if they drowning. Nothing against Gays but damn can we make it to the top list for actually getting the tourists to come?
