The Prime Minister shakes hands with the new ambassador

Prime Minister, Roosevelt Skerrit has welcomed newly appointed US Ambassador to Dominica, Linda Taglialatela, on her maiden visit to the island in her new capacity as Chief of the U.S. Mission to Barbados, the Eastern Caribbean and the OECS, on Wednesday.

During a welcome ceremony held in her honor, the Prime Minister said the US is instrumental in the provision of material support, and the biggest sponsor of training programmes with the police.

“We have had a longstanding relationship with the United States, we are allies in the fight against drug trafficking, in particular, it’s something that Dominica stands in total solidarity with the United States,” he said. “That is very useful in equipping the police officers in fighting the increasingly challenging issue of drug trafficking. We look forward to the continued cooperation.”

Taglialatela stated that her predecessor had a very good relationship with the Government of Dominica and she hopes to follow in his footsteps

“I would certainly like to build on the relationship that we have and to strengthen it,” she noted.

According to her, Dominica is an esteemed partner which the US provided support to 2015.

Furthermore, she stated that the US provided over $3-million to security assistance as well as funding programmes that empower youths and increase resilience to climate change impact.

Meantime; President of Dominica, His Excellency Charles Savarin, said that the US is committed to maintaining and strengthening its friendship with Dominica.

“The United States is committed to maintaining and strengthening the bounds of friendship and cooperation which already exists between the two countries…,” he stated. “Focus will be placed on continuing the robust partnership that makes the relationship between United States and Dominica special. We acknowledge the support provided by the United States overall and the programmes to empower the youths, improve health outcomes, increase resilience to climate change and in security assistance in 2015.”

Did you guys observe the meeting the honorable PM had with the ambassador? Find the video find the clipping. Look carefully how the honorable PM’s behavior compared to hers (eye contact), the eyes are the window to the soul. It is written in scripture. It never lies.

She is not the Ambassador to DOMINICA. She is to the region. The US doesn’t care about Dominica, and shouldn’t.

He think he can fool the Americans with all his lies for which he can, just a matter of time for the remaing portions of the walls to crumble down, waiting patiently the end of the rope is nearing it’s end

Can one believe that? The Right Hon. Doc. PM Skerrit’s DOCTORATE has Thomson and Matt going loco. If the degree is of no significance why should Matt and Thomson be so worried or concerned?

One ting give Skerro that, He can wax on and wax off..lol..hard not to believe the guy..But Welcome to the New Ambassador.
Apart from the War on Drugs (’cause it seems like that is US only forte with the small islands), and on a more serious note affecting the average Dominican pocket; it is a major concern for me as may be for many Eastern Caribbean Islanders the issue of compulsory Travel to Barbados for the US Visa. I am talking about the average cost of about EC$2000 (Plane Ticket,Hotel, Taxi, Food, Visa Fee) that is required to spend which in many cases result in futile efforts and a waste of money.
This system needs improvement because the application is already done online, surely by the answers on the questionnaire, the embassy can decide whether that person will be successful or not..But instead they use this Embassy to fatten their pocket and unfairly boost Barbados’ economy on the backs of struggling people from the smaller Islands..The “interview” is literally 5…

DUCKTER-Skerro, please take the time and explain to the honorable lady why you have not built the coast guard base in the north. It would be very nice for her to know about the current child molestation allegations in the land. An last but not least, Tell her about the passport monies Dominicans are MAD about while bragging about you Honorary DUCKTER-ATE that you hosted a party to celebrate allegedly with our tax money.

Just remember that the US is watching your every move 8) 8)

The Supreme Leader, the celebrated Doctor of Labourites all over the world, should be ashamed to mention a “war on drugs” in Dominica and cooperation with the United States in that regard. The United States gave this Government a SIGNIFICANT monetary donation AND sophisticated boats for the specific purpose of building and equipping a Coast Guard base in Cappuchin. This Government abandoned the building of that base and the boats, and the money disappeared!!! Now, as Dominica is engulfed with reports of vast amounts of drugs and guns, we are hearing calls for “public debate” and the need for “new” high-powered sea vessels. Is this Administration for real? I mean you are talking on both sides of your mouth and attempting to whistle down the middle. I can’t, for the life of me, understand how this backward little Island Prime Minister believes he can fool the representatives of the United States. P.M. before they come here they are well briefed about you Sir! Trust that!

What a time and season for the Hon. Prime Minister to welcome a US (above all countries) ambassador to Dominica! What a time!

I mean a season and time when their is so much allegations in the air and, a time when a minister has tendered his resignation on the basis of serious allegation, according to the minister.

It’s a very bad time to welcome a US ambassador to Dominica and I don’t believe Mr. Skerrit is happy to welcome her in.

    • March 3, 2016

A man who mm is anti American welcomed new US Ambassador, Madam Ambassador this hand shake is fake, just like the man, please do not like that shake fool you, the guy is so anti America pro, ALBA, that the money he received to construct the Coast Guard Building he took it, also the site he promised to construct the building henow hand it over to his Passport agents to construct a hotel, not forgetting the Coast Guard Boat which is rotting, this guy Skerrit is perfect example of those who hate the vine, but love the wine
