Dominican in BVI is LIME $10,000 grand prize winner

When construction worker Randolph Robinson heard he won the $10,000 grand prize on Wednesday morning, he paced the Old Yard site for about 15 minutes to absorb the information.

The father of three told BVI News, “I was really really surprised. I had so many calls that I had to call the office [Lime] to confirm it.”

A native of Dominica, Robinson has been living in the Territory for over 20 years. The elated man said he has been with Cable and Wireless all that time.

“I have never won anything thing in my life so I guess LIME decided it was time for me to win. This is a good start for the New Year,” Robinson said.

While he looked calm at the ceremony at LIME’s Headquarters, Robinson disclosed he has not really thought about how to spend the money fully, but noted the education of his children is top priority.
When asked what his plans were for the rest of the evening Robinson replied, “Maybe a romantic dinner with my wife is in order.” Robinson’s wife Cilma and Akil, one of his children accompanied him from Virgin Gorda to receive the cheque.

Bearer of the good news was Elford Parsons who jokingly said his ears are still ringing from the screams over the telephone when he called the Robinson’s home. Robison’s daughter received the call.

The Head of Retail and Residential Sales and Services explained to BVI News that the winner was selected from a computer automatic system and ironically Robinson was the not the first person selected as the winner.

“There was someone before him but the phone was turned off. And it took us about 15 minutes to get someone from the Robinson family,” Parsons said.

The LIME Christmas promotion, which began in November, gave away some $45,000 in cash and prizes before the grand drawing. BVI LIME Country Manager Joel Abdinoor said that for the New Year LIME has some exciting promotions that its customers can sink their teeth into.

“Our customers will be pleased,” Andinoor told BVI News.
