Dominican is new country manager at Scotiabank Antigua

Gordon Julien

Dominican, Gordon Julien, has been appointed Scotiabank Country Manager in Antigua.

Julien joined Scotiabank in 2004 as Senior Manager, Compliance, after having spent seven years as a Senior Examiner with the Eastern Caribbean Central Bank. In November 2009, he joined Scotia’s Management Development Programme that included stints in Retail, Commercial Banking and Credit Risk. His last assignment was that of Branch Manager of Scotiabank Holetown.

Prior to joining the Eastern Caribbean central Bank, Julien worked with the National Development Corporation (now Discover Dominica Authority)in Dominica.

The new Scotia country manager holds an M. Sc. in Financial Management from The Centre for Financial and Management Studies, University of London and a B. Sc. in Economics and Accounting (Honours) from the University of the West Indies. He is also a Certified Anti-Money Laundering Specialist.

Julien says of his appointment, “I am honored and privileged to be given the opportunity to lead this highly energized and motivated team of Scotiabankers during this challenging economic period. Scotiabank has a long and proud history of serving the Antiguan public, having celebrated its 50th anniversary of operations in Antigua just last year.”

“We are very excited about the opportunities that lie ahead. Our emphasis going forward will be to further improve the customer service experience; to not only meet our customers’ expectations but to exceed them” Julien said.

Sean Albert, Managing Director of Scotiabank Caribbean East, to whom Julien reports, said “Gordon is a product of our region with a solid banking background. He excelled in our Management Development Program and there is no doubt that he will also excel in this new position.”

It goes without saying that this distinction is very well deserved. You continue to make all of us in the family proud. Remember, the sky as you see it is not the limit. A correction here for DNO, NDC was split to DIsciover Dominica Authority and Invest Dominica Authority. Gordon was an Investment Officer at NDC so he was in essence carrying on the duties that Invest Dominica is currently doing.

That’s excellent! Very proud of you Gordon- As they say, our destiny is rarely up to chance but the choices that we make. It is easy to predict where one would like to be in the future but so much harder in figuring out where we are today. You are where you are today through your hard work and determination. Your success is not by accident, you are being rewarded for your high level performance and competence. You have always aimed high and you have achieved. Congratulations and best wishes

I feel real good reading all the positive comments about Gordon, a Dominican who has achieved much in his short time. I know him personally and he deserves every bit of accolade. A pretty good lesson has emerged here. We can be good to each other if we really want. We know how to recognize good in our country and our selves. Let us do it everyday. Well done Gordon. Congratulation and God continue to guide you, but I am disapointed that Dominica is loosing all it’s great asset we never appreciate them untill we loose them to other Islands / Countries they are drawn away from us while other places benefit from their expertise and leaves Dominica in the dark I hope you will continue to blossom in your position.
