Dominica Water and Sewerage Company (DOWASCO) is urging members of the general public to store as much water as possible as the island is being affected by a trough system.
“DOWASCO advises the general public that due to the pending inclement weather several communities could experience low water pressure or interruptions in their water,” PRO of DOWASCO Edward Registe said.
He continued, “We further advised that some water systems will be shut down as a precautionary measure in preparation for the incoming weather system.”
Therefore he said the general public is advised to ensure that water is kept in storage for domestic use.
“DOWASCO will make every effort to maintain supply for as long as possible and in areas where there might be interruptions we will reinstate the supply at the soonest possible time following the passage of the weather system,” Registe stated.
The Dominica Meteorological Service said the trough system is expected to dump four to six inches of rain on the island.
Well, well, well Moo Shay DOWASCO!! Now you saying that?
But since this morning at 8.40 we were told about the system which will affect us so we should know what to do,we are not babies.
So we must take every comment on DNO that seriously.? Lol. I always have water in the house, weather system or not. But let’s be real, not every person would do that.
Thanks so much Woywoy. Dowasco shouldn’t even have to make such a statement.
The water system needs a complete overhaul. You cannot tell me that some system will be “shut down” and that I must store water because of some rain in de forecast!!! Are we expecting a hurricane? What about the small businesses and their customers who must use the toilet/restroom to wash their hands etc.?
So, what am I supposed to tell my guests who are in my Villa? “Sorry folks, NO WATER TODAY?”
Are we somewhere in de Sudan desert? Government should issue permits to people who want to dig wells on their property. I’m tired of relying on people to supply me with six months of water per year. I need my own water supply. Chooooops Mon.
