Six contestants of the DSC Mas Jamboree were all awarded scholarships for the remainder of their time at the Dominica State College (DSC), at the pageant’s prize-giving ceremony on Tuesday afternoon.

Miss DSC Mas Jamboree 2016, Chrisline Tavenier, received a full scholarship (including one year’s tuition and all fees at the DSC) and was awarded $500 from Apex Capital Partners, a Alcatel Pop C7 tablet compliments FLOW, a night for two at the Secret Bay hotel, and gift certificates for Quin’s Jewellery, Prima Dona, and the Fashion Line signature store.

Tavernier also received awards for Best Performing Talent, and Best in Swimwear—a total of $200, courtesy of the medical specialists at the Princess Margaret Hospital (PMH). She was named Miss Intelligent, and was awarded a prize sponsored by VF Inc.

First runner-up, Sue-elyn Meyers received $300 from Apex Capital Partners, a Samsung A3 LTE handset compliments FLOW, and a dinner for two at Old Stone Bar & Grill.

She also received prizes for Best in Runway, and Best Swimwear—a total of $200, compliments the medical specialists at PMH.

Second runner-up, Saidah Charles was awarded $250 compliments Apex Capital Partners, and an Alcatel Pop D5 handset from FLOW.

Third runner-up- Arkisha Valmond received $150 from Apex Capital Partners, and a Huawei Y360 handset from FLOW.

Valmond won prizes for Best Evening Wear, and Best in Evening Wear—a combined value of $200, sponsored by the medical specialists at PMH.

The award for Best Thematic Wear went to Kerdelle Cuffy, who received $100 from the medical specialists at PMH. She also received $100 from Apex Capital Partners, and $50 top-up compliments FLOW.

Hendricka Smith and Dahlia Bruno each received $100 compliments Apex Capital Partners, and $50 top up from FLOW.

Smith, however, was presented with a special award for Dedication and Preservation from Charlene White-Christian.

Meantime, Director of Student Services, Edgar Hunter called the show one of the best of its kind, and promised bigger things in the future.

“This one was the best we ever had…every year it’s getting bigger and bigger, and the public is getting more and more interested… In terms of production, our production was rated higher than Queen Show, by public opinion…” he stated.

He hinted at a larger scale of competition, at a regional level for the winner of DSC Mas Jamboree.

“We are looking at hosting a regional college competition in Dominica, which will be managed and done by the State College,” Hunter said. “So far, we have already started doing the groundwork… The winner of Mas Jamboree would become Dominica’s representative at such a pageant.”

Just wondering, I thought the young lady is an adult??? Let us not be paranoid. And I know her she is a very respectful young lady. Let’s not create situations that are not there.

Ms. Tarvernier, congratulation and good luck in your studies.
It is just pathetic that young educated women have to parade in front
of a bunch of pedophiles under the disguise of scholarship.
Do not go to Secretbay without your parents☺️

Why should those young educated women have to parade in a pageant to
    receive a dcolarship?
How about a scholastic debate or a sports challenge.
    Please Ms. Tarvernier be careful.
As for night for two at Secretbay, I smell a rat.
If you cannot enjoy those nights with parents or trusted family member
    respectfully return the gift.
    The pedophiles have a plan.
They had you all parade in swim wear to assess the assets, Do not fall in the
trap, it is a Webb of deceit.
It is a shame that the record held by some management personnel at D.SC. that they continue to be allowed around minors.
Shame on Dominica for not protecting their children.
I am armed for the rebuttal.

Excellent job DSC. You guys put on a remarkable pageant and looking online, I think that the Miss Dominica Pageant Organisers need a little assistance from you. Not only with the organisation of your pageant put also with the way you award your prizes. I am still wondering what the queen contestants received for their awards. Hats Off to you all and congratulations to the DSC and all the ladies, this is an exceptional pageant.
