An earthquake was felt in Dominica and neighbouring islands on Thursday, the University of the West Indies (UWI) Seismic Research Centre has confirmed.

The quake was also felt in Saint Lucia and Martinique but no damage has been reported.

It measured 4.3 on the Richter Scale and took place around 10:49 am.

The epicenter was located 79 KM east of Fort-de-France, Martinique, 84 km northeast of Castries, Saint Lucia, and 144 km southeast of Roseau, Dominica, at a depth of 144 km.

The Centre said the report “was automatically located by a seismological computational system, therefore, it is a preliminary result and this may vary when new additional data are processed.”

Dominicans build stronger houses and know what to do if an earthquake triggers a Tsunami.

Where are you, in space? Earthquakes could occur anywhere. The US, Canada have had earthquakes. What about Europe?
A few years ago I experienced one in Toronto which was 5.0 on the Richter Scale. It was scary with everything swaying and shaking. I did not fail to pray to Our Lord Jesus Christ, The Divine Mercy, for protection.
This is not the first time I experienced one since residing in Toronto. To my knowledge, there have been four more since residing here (five in all); four where I presently reside. The last one was the worst, so far.
We should not be complacent and think an earthquake will never occur where we reside.
There are also winter and summer storms, some bad ones with thunder, lightning, flooding and power outages, to mention a few.
I have witnessed the worst thunder and lightning in this City in comparison to D/ca. Whoever think that a cold country would have such and in the few months of summer?
Pray that you never experience one – a bad one.

No, because you love the tornadoes, the below zero temperatures for six straight months and the acid rain, right?
