Fathers urged to be role models

Dominican fathers are being urged to recognize the role they play in the family structure.

President of the Dominica National Council on Women Josephine Dublin Prince says in a statement on the occasion of Father’s Day today that fathers need to be good role models, provide the necessary support in the household and must play an important role in the lives of their children.

She also pointed out that every child needs to know who his or her father is.

“Every child deserves the right to know who his or her biological father is however this is not always the case,” she said.

The DNWC applauds all the fathers who have “taken up their role and responsibility as a father seriously. We need to honor and recognize such fathers,” Dublin-Prince said.

Every child should honor his or her father.

Tell this to a chid that was raised in a home where an unwed mother faced the financial difficulties of raising it alone.

Tell this to a child who had no father figure while he or she was growing up.

Tell this to a child who grew up in a home where the father had no input in its life.

By “input in their lives” I mean:

Fathers should go to church on Sundays with their wives and children. He should show an active interest in the children’s education. If possible he ought to participate in sports with the kids, especially the boys. Both mom and dad should share the responsibility of talking to them at appropriate times about the “facts of life” and sharing the guidance of the Word of God on these matters.

If fathers would man-up to their responsibilities it would pay great dividends in the family and make the nation stronger.

Sincerely, Rev. Donald Hill. international Evangelist.

There are some women in society who want to dictate everything to men especially in places that are considered gender neutral. Church don’t belong to women. If women seem to be in control of organizing certain aspects of church…. they should take into consideration that the men, even if they don’t always attend and participate, they should be given an opportunity to do so. Why should I go to church on a day that we celebrate as “Fathers Day” and a whole group of ‘Sacre Chere” are conducting the service. On Mother’s Day it would be the same group of people doing the rituals.
The priests and bishops and lay what ever should encourage those “Bidow Leglise” to open out to the men and encourage and ask them to perform some of those duties on such days….. OTHERWISE BISHOP…. you will continue to see less MEN in the pews.

A women can raise a child and do a much better job than a man anyday of the week. If women in DA were given more resources or opportunities to succeed as a parent then these pigs could continue on their walk of shame out of their kids life. These lower than low men in DA ain’t worth nothing!

Takes more than a roll in the sack to be a father. Just like there are a lot of baby makers here who are undeserving of the name mother.

“he also pointed out that every child need to know who his or her father is. “Every child deserves the right to know who his or her biological father is however this is not always the case,” he said.

That’s so true because there are children in Dominica who are being deprived of their biological daddy, due to the fact that their mother choose to give the kid to someone else, or someone with more money or more handsome that the children father

There are men all over DA saying that they are fathers to children but their mother did not give the child to them and it hurts them

At the same time some men are sperm donors, knowing that the kids are theirs and do not take care of them

Blessing to all the real fathers and grand-fathers in our society! Fathers do matter, and fathers do play a unique and distinctive role not only in child rearing but in sharing the burden of daily child care as well. The presence of a father in the family has enormous benefits for parents, children and our society. So fathers please play your part. Your role is NEEDED and don’t let the wrong things in life remove you from playing your part in your children lives. The emotional investment you are making in your children comes back to them in terms of making them more open and more satisfied as an adult human being.
    God Bless you my brother.

Mrs Dublin-Prince when women want to behave like men, have multiple partners then the rights of the child of not knowing their father will always arise.

Also, these post colonial laws need to change for e.g do you know if a man and woman had sex out of marriage, even if the man did everything for that woman, the woman has the sole power to register the father or not on the child’s birth certificate? What a sick and twisted society!

Also, in some cases, which man is going to take responsibility to maintain a child that he has doubt that it’s his?
