Two buildings were destroyed by the flames of the fire at Loubiere

Reports reaching Dominica News Online indicate that two buildings have been destroyed by a huge fire which occurred in Loubiere on Monday afternoon.

According to a DNO reporter who was at the scene of the fire, one of the buildings was a white single dwelling house where the fire started. It then spread rapidly to an adjacent upstairs and downstairs building which housed two apartments.

The occupant of the first building was not at home when the fire started. The second house was occupied by David Benjamin who lived upstairs and his mother who lived downstairs.

According to the reports both houses were destroyed by the fire. However, no injuries were reported.

Earlier, firemen backed up by two fire trucks valiantly battled the flames which showed no signs of abating despite the vigorous efforts of the fire fighters.

DNO will continue to following this story and bring you more information as it becomes available.

Below are some photos taken at the scene of the fire.
