A French yacht worth some 85,000 Euros sank off Dominica’s coast last Friday, according to reports from the police.
Police PRO Inspector John Carbon said the incident occurred six nautical miles west of Portsmouth.
The police report that the vessel, Ti Bouchon, began taking on water and captain and sole occupant abandoned it for a small life boat.
The captain, identified as French national Willy Joel Goutier, was rescued by the Dominica Coast Guard.
He has since returned to Guadeloupe.
On Friday, June 15, a Dominican cargo boat sank when it collide with a French catamarran off the coast of Dublanc.

Suspicious! Wonder if it was a Dominican yacht that sank in French waters, they would have been treated differently,
marco, i think your name says it all or else you would not write such a dumb comment.
LOL
And what next DNO? The crew got rescued? They all swam ashore? We want to know the rest of the story>
did you read before you wrote what u did. Some people write comment just for writing sake and not reading anything at all. they said the captain was the only person on board and he took a life boat before he was resued by the coast gaurd….. read before writing.
Yo umust be someone who needs glasses. You cannot be serious to ask these questions. Dont just read people, comprehend as well.
Am I wrong here? Looks like two different incidents to me.
I was beginning to think that maybe the info was added after your comment, but then you came back and made it even worst. We understand you were too old to benefit from Universal education(high school for all).
Strange very strange hmmmmmmmm the fish stinks
Then perhaps you should investigate. Don’t you agree?
“A cargo boat collided with a catamarran”!!!!! Was there any thick fog in the area! I just can’t understand how this could happen.
DNO, whether or not this project has been included in the MOU, I suspect we need the Chinese to construct a highway with proper lighting, signs, drainage, and without any pot holes on the rough waters off the Dominican coast so that we could reduce on these accidents in our waters. I do not understand how come so many boats are sinking and even colliding with each other in the vast open blue sea. We know that things are rough on land and the citizens of the country are sinking in debt, poverty etc but we didn’t know that even for boats traverse
sing our waters it is so rough out there.
Come on people, don’t thumbs down me now….this was just an awful attempt at humor.
I wish to join Peeping Tom in congratulating the Drug squad and the Coast guard Unit of the Dominica Police Force and the Preventive Branch of the Dominica Customs and Excise Department for a job well done. It is our hope that this is just the beginning of many more such busts following the commissioning of the two new vessels donated by the American government. Soon, we’ll hearing of cocaine busts, human trafficking busts, illegal immigrant busts, money-laundering busts etc. as the police in consultation with their American and French counterparts increase their patrol and surveillance of the hitherto unprotected northern coast of Dominica to the chagrin of those who are intent in engaging in these illegal activities in our waters.

Thank God for no casualties!
