Humanist, our beliefs are not primitive in that we pray and believe God, not gods, to save and protect us. You appear as one who has gained a bit of education and it has caused you to believe that you have “arrived” Typically lost souls lean towards being agnostic and such to explain away concepts the rest of us beleivers have the faith to accept.May God bless you.

Lord, please protect us and save us from the destructive forces of such dangerous natural disasters.

Stop hoping you will be saved by something you have no evidence for. Just hope, prepare for the worst, help all those you can before the storm arrives, and leave it there. Rationalism, not primitive beliefs in nature as gods, is what you need.
