Kelver Darroux vows to remain focused amid naysayers

Darroux

Dominica’s second youngest Member of Parliament says he is not intimidated by the political bigwigs in the House of Assembly and will ensure that his people remain first on his list.

Kelver Darroux, the youngest member of the Roosevelt Skerrit Government was 30 years when he was nominated to contest the 2009 General Elections for the St. Joseph constituency on a Labour Party ticket, a mantle he took up from outgoing Parliamentary Representative Vince Henderson.

Darroux resigned from his job as a SAT Telecoms news reporter, and subsequently as the president of the National Youth Council to advance his political career.

He said while he may be the youngest in parliament and in Government, the experience is tremendous.

“I am very fortunate to be part of the Dominica Labour Party, the most organised party in this country. I am learning a lot and I must say that the DLP will continue to work in the best interest of the country,” he said.

Darroux is the parliamentary secretary in the Prime Minister’s office with responsibility for Information Technology.

He has has noticed-while in government-that there will be a lot of detractors and naysayers “but I vow to remain focus at the task at hand and vow to remain focus”.

“I hope that by the end of my tenure that the people of St Joseph will once again realize that the DLP had indeed worked diligently on behalf of the country and their children,” he stated.

Government Senator Tammy Jean-Jacques is the youngest member of Parliament. She did not contest the General Elections, rather she was chosen by the DLP as one of its senators to sit in the House of Assembly.

While I encourage young educated people to make a contribution in nation building, I also encourage them to have something to fall back on before entering the political arena.Things can change so quickly and one could be caught with their pants down.

The ‘bigwigs’ in this DLP government leave much to be desired and Mr Darroux will soon find that out if he has not already.

Mr Darroux, you are just a babe among these ‘bigwigs,’ be very careful! You are a Seventh Day Adventist and you know the teachings of the Bible. The right is always right no matter who does it and the wrong is always wrong no matter who does it. Take your candle, go light your world!

Who are the bigwigs?..Don’t think the house has bigwigs. Not with the gutter politics that is debated in the house, the latest of which was women’s breasts and how soft and/or tender they are..Your so called bigwigs on your side of the house are all lovers of their pocketsand not lovers of country and these people discuss nothing substattive in the house so you have no reason to be intimidated by anything, except the way in which some people seek to get wealthy overnight….
