Kira Thompson-Aird has been elected President of the Dominica Association of Industry and Commerce (DAIC).
The decision was announced at the DAIC’s Annual General Meeting (AGM), on Wednesday evening.
Thompson-Aird revealed her “strong passion for public-private dialogue,” and stated that the DAIC will continue to advocate for said dialogue.
“And, with that in mind, public-private dialogue is something that we will continue to advocate for. We will continue to push for, and we will continue to engage in,” she said.
She underscored the need for change in the organization’s approach and operation.
“Things are not the way they used to be… It’s time for a little bit of change. We need to change the way we engage. We need to change the way that we approach things…” she explained.
Additionally, Thompson-Aird expressed the association’s interest in small-medium enterprises, describing them as “the drivers of economic growth.”
“All those little businesses out there contribute to the success of the small business, and the medium business, and, of course, the large business, and ultimately, our economic position,” she elaborated.
Former President of Dominica, Eliud Williams, will serve as Vice President of the association, while Earl Edwards was named Treasurer.
Time will tell.
Thank god, now we will see change.
