“Lions” on new bridge vandalized

One of the vandalized "lions"

Smeared with some kind of oil, three of the four “lions” gracing the entrance to the new Dominica/China Bridge show signs of having been clearly vandalized.

The statues have been the subject of controversy, with many comments made in response to a Dominica News Online story showing  that some people are not happy with what they see as Chinese symbols being placed on a Dominican bridge.

While that democratic right to express dissatisfaction with something people are unhappy about cannot be questioned, the authorities say the vandals who defaced the “lions” have gone too far.

The police say such acts fall under the malicious destruction of property act, and someone found guilty of such an offence could be fined up to EC$3,000.

The results from a Dominica News Online poll, in which 628 voters participated, showed that a majority of readers believe the “lions” should not have been placed on the newly opened bridge in Roseau.

The results show that 62 percent – that’s 389 voters – believe the statues should not have been placed on the bridge while 38 percent – 239 voters, are happy to see them there.

The poll asked whether the authorities should have placed the statues on the bridge.

Please note, however, that DNO polls are not scientific.

According Wikipedia, Chinese guardian lions, known as Shishi  or Imperial guardian lion are a common representation of the lion in pre-modern China.

They have traditionally stood in front of Chinese Imperial palaces, Imperial tombs, government offices, temples, and the homes of government officials and the wealthy, from the Han Dynasty (206 BC-AD 220), and were believed to have powerful mythic protective benefits.

The bridge, named the Dominica/China Friendship Bridge, was opened on February 1.

The 70-metre bridge was constructed over a 17-month period to the tune of EC$8-million provided by mainland China.

so what you’re trying to say is that not having respect for the Chinese, is not much of an offense because it seems to you they do not do much for this country. it was total disrespect for another country and their beliefs which to me and most of the people commenting is a greater offense than violence.to prove my point what if some Chinese burn Dominica’s flag, but i guess it is an inanimate object so it should not matter. it seems thats what you think

This whole issue regarding these statues says a lot about us as a people, Dominicans, in terms of our thinking and mentality especially when it comes to religion, superstition and our understanding regarding a different culture than ours. What irritates us can revel a lot about us.It also says that we as a people are not willing to give up or abandon certain beliefs regardless what or even willing to spend time examining some of the things we believe as a Dominicans. What is also interesting is although some of us have migrated to other Countries we still hold on to certain beliefs which was inherited from our land of birth Dominica.

I am not denying anyone the right to have their own belief. What i am worried about is the collective thinking because this collective thinking can say a lot about us as Dominicans especially to the outside world.

Why is it when certain things cannot be understood as in the case of the statues that religious beliefs, blame and tradition beliefs dominate the reasoning process in trying to understand or make sense of what the statue mean or suggest,is this the way to find out the true essence of things that are not understood. We talk about wanting to have progressive thinking in Dominica, is that the way to progressive thinking.

Symbols and structures have always been used all through out history by ancient peoples and civilizations to tell us something they understood, perfect example the Pyramids, look at what is now being reveled by the Mayan calendar and so the statues of the Lions or foo dogs is no different. If only we look into Chinese history, and culture we would understand the usage of foo dogs and how they are being used and what they represent.

The one thing that got my attention regarding the
statue is the geometrical object which the claws are holding down this object represents something of sacred geometry and have a very significant meaning no wonder the foo dogs were used to represent guardians to important building and temples, this same statue can be found at the entrance of the forbidden city. This particular geometrical object is not of origin to China
but can be also found in other parts of the world,it is called a torus or vector equilibrium,a model of a field of energy in which all forces are in equilibrium a representation of sacred geometry. Let us not carried away by ignorance, let reason be the natural order of truth Prejudices are what fools use for reason.

Do you know what the sphere represent. The Earth

The angry devilish face is meant to keep away evil!

now. to Whom to we look for Spritual Protection? its the Great I am, the Almighty God. Right?

So why force the chinese culture down our throat. we may love what the chinese doing via the PM.

Praise to the PM for this great iniative but we do not like the arrogance and kind of “I am under your feet” vibration that this statue is projecting. its provoking us the many Christians,

And what gift. is it really a gift. so why did I hear the PM say it cost us Millions?

if people didn’t say that the bridge was open, i won’t even pass on it. if people didn’t say that there were lions on the bridge, i won’t have even noticed it.

my point is, things that we say causes other people to act.

in my opinion… the chinese has agreed to help dominica. and eventhough they themselves has been brutalized by natual disasters, they still continue to lend a hand. they were the working force behind building of roseau’s bridge #3, just as we dominicans wanted it. they built a grand stadium, just as we wanted it. so now, they built bridge #4, and decided to decorate it with ornaments from their home country, and we are furious. yet the same furious persons still uses bridge #4.

don’t get me wrong, i would’ve love to see the dogs on 1 side and parrots on the other but the fact of the matter, is not our money that is being used to build it, it is a gift to us.

i personally would like to see the persons who commited such an act be forced to do comunity service. maybe ensure that the market and enviroment is maintained cleaned for years (and yes, that includs shining the faces of the lions every single day)

Come on Dominicans; can’t u all see the underline message. The lions symbolizes China’s presence in Dominica. I wonder if the Chineses consulted the government before they installed these lions. Why wasn’t our national bird the “Sesserou” displayed on the bridge instead of having some lions that have nothing in common with us? It is a matter of identification. And nothing more.

In Dominica we boast of 365 rivers and one of these rivers is the Roseau River, cascading beautifully below the three bridges.
The Rosalie Bay Resort made good use of the Rosalie river by pumping the river directly into its pool. The Roseau River on the other had is just flowing into the sea on a daily basis.
It would have been such a welcome beautiful sight if someone had the foresight to pump the Roseau river to create four beautiful fountains.
That simple aesthetic would transform the town of Roseau and remind visitors and Dominicans alike of the precious natural resource we boast of and which many countries fight over.
The Lions are very aggressive looking and offensive to the market vendors and farmers. Even from inside KFC they look devilish.
The water fountains on the other had would remind the farmers of how lucky they are to be farmers in Dominica and from KFC looking out we would feel proud to be a Dominican. Not to mention the many people who would want to pose by the fountains to take photos.
This debate is long and lengthy and the PM should have thought of the implications and religious meaning of this symbol of the bridge.
If the PM wants us to think of the lion of the passport. Then he should have put the exact statue of the lion on the passport. If he wants us to think of the lion of Judah then it should be the statue should mirror the lion of Judah
We look to God for protection not Budah. Actually the word Fo is the Chinese word for Budah.
The ball under the foot of the Fo “Budah dog” actually represent the earth. I plead to all of us Dominicans to cease from using this bridge as a sign of protest against the dogs.
We want them removed because we are a Jehovah, Yahweh, Jesus nation and not a Buddist one. We are not a colony of china. And this symbol of the Fo “Buddah”dog puts a stamp on us Dominicans that we are a colony.

You started off so well but then you messed it up. Stupid, petty, vindictive, short-sighted, counter-productive, a huge individual faux pas. These are some of the words that could be used to describe this latest act of vandalism.

I do not agree that the lions should occupy both ends of the bridge: in an effort to show some level of gratitude to the Chinese, I can understand them wanting to have symbol of their culture reflected thereon, but in the same breath, Dominica needs to be there too. So why not have the two lions on one end of the bridge and at the other end, two things Dominican, e.g. two parrots or crapauds. Is this not more plausible a response?

Now I hope you are not implying that any one with a “non-Jehova, Christian” religious outlook should be refused the right to display his/her symbols?

      I could disagree more!!!

The bridge is their for Dominicans. My opinion is, allow those idiots to do with it as they please. I just hope that when they destroy the foo dogs that they also destroy the bridge with it. Then they can go back and sit down in there hours of traffic in the sweltering 4pm sun. Is just the same way they said the stadium wasn’t theirs, it was the government’s. Now look we hosting international games and has what is arguably the best stadium in the west indies. Even with some people’s best efforts to destroy parts of the stadium. Dominica cannot afford to build itself, money has to come from somewhere. If Dominicans want to destroy what is given to them or provided for them, then feel free! Then blame yourselves for the country staying behind. Do not say governments on Dominica don’t work or try to make things better

If it were a dragon then i would think twice but a lion ? i mean come on people. I would make the vandalizers scrub the lions clean with a toothbrush and then i would send them jail. Thats nonsense right about now. The same way they burn the rubbish bin, they might all burn the bridge as well.

Why so much debate about a couple of statues??? They are simply symbols of friendship and protection. A kind of Feng Shui, conferring a blessing on travellers. It would have been an insult to Dominicans to leave the bridge unprotected. A different culture, that is all.

There is nothing sinister about it – don’t be so paranoid. Mind you, this is an island where many people still believe in witches, obeah and zombies, so it doesn’t surprise me.

And, DNO should not be printing the comments calling for destruction of the lions – and there have been a few. Whether or not it is someone’s opinion, it is inciting criminal damage.

There are many issues on this island at the moment more worthy of our attention and action.

Vandalism is a malicious act and may reflect personal ill will, although the perpetrators need not know their victim to commit vandalism. The recklessness of the act imputes both intent and malice. Vandalism conviction should result in serious penalties that include prison 16mths and large fines/property damage.

The people who call themselves patriots and claim that they are fighting on behalf of we the honorable Dominicans are proving once again that they have nothing good to offer Dominica. And the people who support them are just the same.

We are starting a trend where we destroy everything that we are not in favor of. Think of the implications of your actions. Tends have a way of continuing. Think of what it means for Dominica in the long run. You may not like the party in power now, nor some of the decisions that they are making but what is going to happen when, or if, your party gets into power. This does not look good for Dominica. And the people who are asking for the so called revolution, you might just get your wish. Hope you and your loved ones survive it.

It is all well and good for some of us to beat our chest and talk about integrity, good governance and so on, quote Malcolm X, Martin Luther King and other great leaders who stood for something but when the time comes to lead by example we are a very poor example. I mean if you are going to call me a thief you don’t do that by being a thief yourself. You all are just showing Dominicans why they should not follow you all. Your actions can not and will not help Dominica. Instead it will only lead to chaos and destruction to Dominica, the country you claim you love. Is that what you want? This is the reality of the path you are taking.

If things are a bit bad financially with me and a friend gives me a $5.00 should he force me to wear a white shirt instead of a black one that I want to wear? If that is the case then really I am a poor Beggar at the mercy of he/she who gives me the money.

In Foreign relations the giving country do have to appreciate and respect the culture of the receiving country. However, people must find other ways to vent their dissatisfaction. But what if the culprit repeated the words, “No Law, not even the Constitution could prevent him from……”

Most Dominicans were never aware and surprised that “FOO Dogs”, Chinese symbols, would be placed at either ends of that bridge. Cultural symbols are important and do say something. The Chinese know that too well. Dominicans must not enslave themselves to any country for a bridge, a rehabilitated road or financial assistance.

Where are the symbols of Japan, EU, UK, USA, Cuba etc. on projects they have helped us with? Hundreds of students have graduated from Cuban universities, thereby developing our human resource. That’s worth tens if not hundreds of millions of dollars. Did the Cuban Govt. erect any of their cultural symbols on us?

Frankly, our Govt. should have been more sensitive. They could at least explain and convince the Chinese to do otherwise. We lament about cultural penetration from the West and rightly so. Excessive TV viewing, with many programmes from the US, has changed our attitudes significantly. Even those in High Office seem not to understand Mental enslavement, the purpose of imposing foreign cultures on a people. What happens when you put BUTTER around a cat’s mouth or on its paws? Are we being treated as beggars who are no choosers?

    • February 15, 2012

Butter on Cats paws, I wish everyone commenting on DNO could stop and read your post.
Our cultural integrity is at stake here. There was a poll conducted and the people spoke. They do not approve of the ‘Foo Dogs’ being placed at the entrance of the bridge (they never mentioned not liking the Chinese people) and this should be adressed. Respect peoples opinion when majority rule.

He knows all the culprits who wants to use others to do their dirty work for them. He knows all our intentions. He is omnipotent , everpresent and mind you we will all have to answer for our transgressions. Wake up my people and do what is right and do not do wrong things and claim to be lovers of country. There is no joy than being a peacemaker and praying and interceding for our Leaders and country. Some of us are too loudmouth and using as excuse as lovers of country, patriots etc when in fact we are only causing more chaos in the country. Instigating hatred. Let us pray for one another and spread the love. Let us be compassionate as our Father in Heaven is and let us correct one another in love.

I will not be surprised if these UWP start attacking foreigners in the name of defense of democracy…what a shame, that we have allowed a few among us to dictate our conversations.

We the masses of Dominicans we cannot sit idle by and let the politics of hate , anger and division cut through us. We are much stronger than that.

Now the Government has to spend much needed monies to clean up that mess and replace the road

I really don’t think the Chinese govt needs this ish. You are the ones in the 3rd to 4th world country, planting bananas to make your daily bread. Seriously, Dominicans really think they are hurting China. Maybe the Chinese have done enough, and when they are gone, the rent prices for business space will drop, local businesses will continue to flourish and the price of goods and services will decrease as well. The people want their democracy which they’ll get once the Chinese pull out, Skerritt should just give it to them.
The rich and prosperous EU countries and USA will shower Dca with lots of Euros to build new roads, and they will buy our fig, dasheen, bananas and water en masse. We will become prosperous. When Skerritt is gone, UWP will get lots of funding from the EU and other sources—- airports, overseas markets for fig and dasheen, Euros and USD will flow like our rivers in the crumbling world economy once the new freedom fighters come in and wave their magic wands.

Really and trully when i read some of the comments on here, i have a total understanding why slavery lasted so long. Everytime the slaves would plan a revolt, a slave would sell out the plans just to go live closer to the master.
Or why south africa with all the gold and diamond and lands are oWned by the whites.

WE BLACK PEOPLE HAVE NO UNDERSTANDING OF THE REAL VALUE OF ANYTHING..

Our lands and its natural resources are worth way more than a lousy bridge. When we allow all our resources to be taken over by foreigners with more paper(money)than we do, and our kids have to work like slaves just to make a living i hope the bridge wouldnt seem useless at that time.

If the lions trouble some people, dont pass on the bridge or rather brake it down. dont drive on the roads, use a helicopter to travel around the island. One thing i no, chinese nor skerrit going to be their forever, and all what is done by the chinese will still be here for all of us to use. it is such a same when people behave these ways. its only when some of use cross the ocean we try to think and do better. but never mind with that, does are the same people that cry about goverrnment corrupt, government this and government that. but the big man is always watching and we all have to stand for the malice and wicked things that we do.

We tend to lose more if our visitors feel unsafe in our mix. The radio programs have nothing to do with what is happening here, on the contrary I think it help most people exhale whether we like it or not. Because someone acted criminally what does this have to do with anyone who idd it, people have to take responsibility for their actions and Dominicans who don’t agree with them being out there have th right to speak just as persons who have no problem with it have the right to say so as well. Step back a bit take your time dominicans let the police investigate, get the victims and take them to court. In the meantime stop barking at each other. do like the chinese, take things calm.

A tourist couple were savagely beaten a few days ago and the response was not as heated as when the colour changed on the dragons allegedly due to vandalisation.

If the bridge was a “GIFT of goodwill” to the Dominican people, why do the Chinese and the PM feel the need to make it a monument to China.

A simple plaque would suffice with some inscription and the flags of both nations.

I really don’t care if the PM or anyone else wants to put them on his/her private property. Put them outside the Chines embassy. BUT NOT ON OUR STATE PROPERTY!! And I don’t give a @%&$ that they(the Chinese) paid for it(the bridge). Our country is sovereign.

“The results from a Dominica News Online poll, which was patronized by 628 voters, showed that a majority of readers believe the “lions” should not have been placed on the newly opened bridge in Roseau.”
    ———————————————–
This sentence is inaccurate as anyone who has done any academic research will agree.628 peeps participating in a poll does not represent dno’s readership..Best believe that way more than 628 people visit DNO and read about the ‘foo dogs’ controversy.

What happens is that persons who participate in such polls are the ones who are more passionate about the issue, and in this case, the passion is clearly on the side of those against it. The % of Dominicans who ‘want’ the foo dogs on the bridge is small. I would venture to say that the vast majority of Dominicans would obviously prefer to see a Dominican symbol, but don’t see the lions as a huge deal.

Peeps with those views would not bother to participate in the poll and as such the results can easily be misleading about true public sentiment regarding the dogs.

…and the statue of Josephine in Forte-De-France was beheaded and have blood poured all over it…you Dominican are too “fowl-yard”. I am willing to cluck and play the good fowl in the yard – just throw crumbs at me. oh, look, we are starving Dominicans being rescued by the Chinese …we are at your mercy. We will take whatever you give, however you give it, and will not complain – even if our values and beliefs are compromised.

There is nothing wrong with saying that our values and culture should be represented on that bridge…and if someone is militant enough to cross the line in the act of protest, that is totally within reason…

I can hear you readers saying, why is he saying those things and condoning such bad behavior…Our massa is goin take away our daily bread…It is sad what slavery has done to us…still in the let-us-not-run-away-and-be- free, because the massa will be upset…

Even Chinese who are oppressed protest in their own country…why would a Dominican who feel aggrieved stifles himself with his anger?

You all may as well have no tongue, no heart, no spirit, no self-belief, no courage, no eyes, no values…

There is nothing wrong with saying: give me a gift, but don’t put your imprint in my living room. I have never heard of a gift with an attachment to it.

Off all things is that the Opposition leaders must address. Who ever did it wrong, but you all are way over the top. Why don’t you ask the government and party leaders to denounce the chinese who were raided with Dominican passport, immigration stamps and police records. Isn’t that something of National importance verses some idiot and black oil on foo dogs?

I don’t see what the big deal is about the lions. They’re there or not, to me it doesn’t make a difference. Them Chinese fix the road for us and this new bridge saves time by reducing traffic and I can’t be more thankful because I own vehicles and I know how much I hate being in traffic and how much i spend on parts. They choose to put 4 lions for whatever reason…..that does not affect the least of us. I believe it’s time we as Dominicans wise up and stop being frantic over every little thing…cuz the country not anywhere with you’ll stupid criticisms. DNO drive down the West Coast and you will see a number of the road signs placed there by the Chinese have been vandalised. Even some of the reflectors on the road and guard rails have also been destroyed.

This thing has gone to far it is the level of incitement on Q95. This thing must stop. It is a Shame on all of us. That is how we thank our friends who give a worthy gift that we may never have been able to afford at this point in time.

I am saddened by this action of an individual(s). They are statues people. Nobody is asking you to prayer to them or offer reverance. We were blessed with a much needed bridge and what many are worrying themselves about are statues. As they say nothing is free. I will happily give up 4 statues for a bridge, which serves US OF ALL. The lions, as the article stated, are symbols in China since the Han Dynasty. They are not symbolic to Dominica in any way, shape or form. A plaque could have suffice in this case. The high level of irresponsibility in our media must end!!It is this idle talking and posting which is driving our people to such high level of stupidity.
It is now time that the authorities take stock and put an end to this irresponsility and make a few accountable for their actions,ONLY IN A POST MAMO DOMINICA can such happen.People are incited daily on radio talk shows to committ acts of lawlessness and no one is holding the host or the regular known callers responsible.HOW CAN WE MOVE FORWARD AS A PEOPLE WHEN A SMALL SEGMENT OF OUR SOCIETY CAN CONTINUE TO ACT IN THIS MANNER.Is this the demoncracy we want our children to hold dearly?
An ornament on a bridge can cause our people to behave in such a foolish manner? The sad thing is people are getting away with such.
Authorities PLEASE step up and make example of a few so that our young kids will not be misled to believe that this is the way to go.

DNO poll is much to blame for inciting this type of civil unrest and mischief. While people are entitled to their opinion in this case giving it that type of attention was unnecessary since the project is already completed. This clearly shows disrespect for Chinese government diplomatic relationship with Dominica. A relationship that is crucial to maintain and improve as China is now the world leading economic power. Failing to have a good relationship with China will be detrimental to Dominican and all the people who encourage and support such negative behaviours and attitude will too feel the impact. Look around you people and see the wonder of infrastructure that few could ever imagine could be accomplished. Thanks to the China and Dominica diplomatic relationship. That outright hatred by some Dominica must stop or else we all will the brunt of China’s power. We are better off with China than against China. The Americans, Canadians and Europeans have learnt that and are now cementing a better relationship with China. Dominica needs to follow suit for its own economic well being. To the ignorant and uneducated people of Dominica please seek the necessary education on diplomatic and economic issues. It is important to be well informed on such matters since it determines your own future and that of your family and friends. Relying on UWP representation and supporters is not a credible or educational source. To them it’s all about political slander!

like i said i don’t support this in no way… form or shape but you all really accepting 4 statues that has nothing to do with our culture…. huh???

i don’t care if is grant or loan… they could have put better thing on dat… that’s what happens when someone does what they want without engaging the masses… 60% plus voted against the erection of statues on the bridge… some will say is uwpites and diasporans that vote… stupidly thinking that labourites are not against it also… any right thinking dominican should be against these figures… 60% is loud and clear… these figures have to go… ship them back to china papa

I made a post about this and now reading your comment. For you to be flaunting the 60% shows that you have zero understanding of formal statistical research.

In a survey where the question is phrased the way DNO phrased it, you will always find that people who are fiercely against the idea of the dogs are the ones who will participate overwhelming in the poll..

The vast number of Dominicans who don’t see it as a huge deal will not bother to participate in a poll where the only options are should it be there or not.

Our Prime Minister declared it open as the “Dominica/China Friendship Bridge”, as you rightly termed it later in the article. Secondly , which of us would give someone an 8 million dollar gift and not place some kind of mark on it to show that we were the one giving it? Just a thought.

The government of Dominica and China must respect the wishes of the people. These statues should not have been placed there. These are symbols of Chinese pagan gods. We see both the lion and the dragon when they dance in movies.

We say thank you Chinese for the bridge but no thanks to the sculpture. Next they need to efface the cross on Morne Bruce. All these are symbols of paganism. This is exactly what the Taliban did when they ruled Afghanistan, they bombed the Buddhist statue.

First of all, those so called “Lions” are nothing more that symbols which serve as a reminder of who the country has been handed over to. The “good” we perceive to have received from these two nations alliance, comes at a cost much greater than what one would expect. It is a sad day when the blind lead the blind. China is a nation known for its brutality and persecution against Christians, yet we all them to erect monuments which represent them, in a nation that is supposedly “God-fearing”. This world will get a lot worse before it gets better; so it’s no surprise that Dominica digs deeper into the corruption.

I urge my countrymen to repent and turn your lives over to God. The only way to the father is through the son. You can obtain salvation by believing in Christ, Our Savior. Harden not your hearts and accept him today, because you think things are bad now, just wait and see how much more wicked this world will become. Now is the time to get down on our knees, beg for forgiveness, ask for mercy and pray for our country and this world.

You don’t have to agree with what I’m saying because I’m not trying to win a popularity contest but I pray you give what I’ve said some thought.

Religion seems to have a way of making people abandon logic in the name of God. Why would someone believe that the world will get worse before getting better. What kind of mind set is this. What is this nonsense about a God fearing Nation, it is bewildering when people say such things.

Now regarding symbols, it was once said by the late comedian George Carlin who wants to be a member of a religion whose symbol was a guy nailed to two pieces of wood. What is it with you about wanting your Country to repent who gave you that moral authority.I will tell you this If God doesn’t like the way people live, let him tell them not you.

You are such a disgrace! Why didn’t “our culture” build the bridge and not the Chinese? With many different religions in DA, what is our religious belief? Don’t we all believe in God?
Dominica is too small to have people like you cause more division. Shame on you and the person who was foolish enough to deface it!

        February 14, 2012

        @ truth telling
how did he make it political when the whole issue was a political one to begin with? the fact is that dominicans were not consulted on this decision and even when it was mentioned many were against it and they still went ahead. after it was already in place people are still against it and we are being told by the government to basically “suck it up and deal with it cuz we got the bridge for free”. if anything this is a very political issue we could very well be fighting for our sovereignty here

Despite your comments MOTS, I would never class you as stupid.

Infact, I think you are a modern day ‘Pied Piper’
leading the people to self destruction. You are always quick to point the finger at the DLP and their supporters when a criminal act is carried out.

Use your brain power to inform and not misinform.
Unlike ‘Happy’ I dont think you did it, simply because you would have to get your hands dirty, and standing on the side lines is safer.

Do not quote people you know nothing about in your post. He didn’t represent what you think. If you think the Chinese are our enemies, look closer. And don’t forget, when it rains, it pours on all our roofs, not just some. Ashamed!

      Such ignorance you express.

We claim to be an educated people still some of us act as barbarian. No wonder we will continue to stew in our ignorance.

I can’t believe for a country that has more Dominicans living outside of Dominica would behave with such disdain towards a gift given to us so all can enjoy.

I am ashamed by the stupidity of those or the one who acted with such disrespect to another culture.

Our politicians have a role to play in this, they are encouraging residents to act unlawful when they continuously pump hate, discord and divide among our people. We have to change to way we politic only then will all our people act with respect to one another and to those who are helping to make our daily life a little easy to navigate.

I am really disappointed in this act.
