Chairperson of the Loubiere Village Council, Rosamund Lebruin has stated the position of the council on a matter which transpired at the Loubiere Resource Center during a wedding reception recently.

She told Dominica News Online on Monday that the council condemns the act of violence which took place there on October 29.

“The Loubiere Village Council condemns the act of disturbance and violence which occurred on the 29th of October at the Loubiere Resource Center and the council wishes to express their dissatisfaction in the total behavior of what transpired,” stated Lebruin.

She noted that “this is the first ever occurrence of such an event at Loubiere, and we would like to emphasize to the public that this will not occur again in the future.”

The Council also expressed their hearts to the public and to the bride and groom.

“Council wishes express our deepest regrets on the incident,” she said.

Lebruin also alerted the public that the Resource Center is now back up and running.

“The Resource Center is now back up and running and the public is welcomed to continue using the resource center, as it is now and will continue to be a safe environment for the public,” she said.

The incident took place between two groups who started by hurling stones and bottles at each other during the reception. One group retreated to the Resource Center and locked themselves inside.

However, the other group, led by a young man wielding a cutlass, went to the center and began breaking down the door. The group eventually broke through the door and began hurling bottles and stones inside.

Reports also indicate that a bus carrying guests for the wedding reception was attacked.

Two people were reportedly hurt in the incident.

What is done is done and can never be undone. Wish it were the reverse. This is something the bride and groom will never forget.
I am unable to comprehend that those two groups did not have respect for the environment they were in, for the bride and groom and guests.
It always takes two. When one set started the melee, the other should not have responded.
Someone should have immediately telephoned the police, at especially Crime Stoppers.
These troublemakers spoiled the happy occasion for the bride and groom, their reception and the guests who attended..
    Were the perpetrators apprehended?

Has anyone been arrested, or at least questioned by police regarding this incident. or is it true that our police have decide to become re-active, if at all, instead of pro-active in our country? Just asking.

I see no motive for the events..What was the cause of these weird developments??..no name of the perpetrators nor those injured…nor any police report..This kind of reporting is not good enough.. An oil on troubled waters statement from Mrs Rosamund Lebruin is NOT ENOUGH..

Has any arrests been made by the disfunctional police. It was reported that the persons involved in the fracas, are know to people the community.Outside of this the police are expected to address the violent incident with professionalism, but alas, according to reports acted as if they were accompanying a payroll delivery. It is time to get a new police chief in place to ensure that the vow to protect and serve is carried out 24/7.The police are always quick on the scene when the word “drugs” is uttered. We want the police to as quick to respond to all the needs and concerns of the citizens.

Mr St Jean you should have seen what went down in the village you are from and no policeman or policemen have shown up and never will. Personally I believe DA is in survival mode and it’s heart breaking when others see nothing wrong.
