Nature Isle Toastmasters Club commemorates two years of shaping lives

ToastmastersLogo-ColorNature Isle Toastmasters Club (NITC) of Roseau, Dominica will mark its 2nd anniversary on 26th June 2015. In honor of the occasion, a special anniversary dinner and award ceremony will be held on June 27th 2015 at the Fort Young Hotel. Since 2013, the club has been dedicated to helping people become better speakers and leaders.

The Nature Isle Toastmasters Club provides a supportive and positive environment where members have the opportunity to overcome their fear of public speaking and to sharpen their presentation skills. The benefits of membership include the opportunity to increase one’s confidence, build critical thinking skills and become an effective listener.

This year three of our members: Toastmasters Merril Matthew, Brian Meade and our President Dorothy Jno Baptiste will be receiving the prestigious “Triple Crown Award”- an award given to Toastmasters who have completed three or more educational awards in a given Toastmaster year. Other members will also be receiving special commendation for having completed their Competent Communication, Competent Leadership and Advanced Leadership Bronze Manuals. Awards for the categories of Most Improved Speaker, Service and Congeniality will also be presented.

Nadia Riviere, the Vice President of Public Relations Elect explained that the “Nature Isle Toastmasters Club and Toastmasters International have afforded me the opportunity to improve my public relations, leadership and many other skills. I joined the Toastmasters Club at a time when I thought the world was against me and it assisted me to pick myself up, brush myself off and to continue to strive for excellence with the help of the Toastmasters Education and Leadership Programmes. Many persons join the Toastmasters program to improve on their public speaking abilities, but I have realized that this program also enables us to nurture the unique talents and abilities we all possess inside and allows us to become more impacting in our society.”

Chartered with twenty -two (22) members in June 26, 2013, Nature Isle Toastmasters Club is located in District 81. The Club meets every 1st and 3rd Thursday of each month at 6:00 pm at the Dominica State College Bath Estate Campus. Our sister club in the north “Northern District Toastmasters Club” meets every 2nd and 4th Thursdays at the Central Cooperative Credit Union building in Portsmouth at 6:30pm.

This is wonderful. Something positive for Dominica!!!!
I have listened to so many people during interviews and wondered, “why have they not taken advantage of the Toastmasters club?” I am so happy to hear that the club has prospered and achieved two years of existence and hard work, transforming its current members to excellent leaders and great public speakers. I look forward to greater things from the group.
Well done and keep up the good works. May the group be granted longevity.
