President of the National Co-operative Credit Union (NCCU) Board of Directors, Josephine Dublin has revealed that a special committee has been set up in order to investigate allegations concerning the organization that have been circulating on social media recently.

Addressing the NCCU’s 7th Annual General Meeting (AGM) on Thursday night she said some of the matters are already before the court.

“The credit union movement is a member-owned organization and if members are dissatisfied, they have recourse to lodge your dissatisfaction with the independent supervisory and compliance committee,” she said. “Some of the matters and allegations include matters that are with the courts and the board that you have elected will lead and advise you responsibly to allow the courts to follow its due process.”

She said that the issues of the governance of NCCU Cadence-lypso competition have been reported to members at the NCCU’s last AGM and matters are progressing to ensure improved oversight of its activities.

According to Dublin, other allegations and any other matter that members wish to raise, “may require some investigation.”

“And if the meeting so wishes it would formerly inform, possibly by a resolution, the supervisory and compliance committee of its intention,” she stated.

Dublin stated further that the Board does not want to stifle members queries nor “does it want to participate in any cover-up.”

“If person or persons who are aggrieved, who would like the society to function efficiently, the proper procedures have to be followed,” she noted.

There are lots of thievery that should be investigated in Dominica, for example; our national Birds, or parrots that was held in captivity on display to the visiting tourist, and returning national, that they claimed got so sick after Maria, that they had to send them to Germany to treatment.

Even that so, called minister of agriculture ran his stupid mouth off by saying the parrots will return when the time is right!

Where are our National Birds, they are the only species of their kind. It seems as if it  is taking longer to treat a few parrots medically, than it takes for human doctors to perform a heart transplant on a human.

Where are the parrots, how much were they sold for, and in whose pocket the money went. That need to be investigated. Drigo need to be investigated to find out where in the world including the United States where he exported a million pounds of fish caught in Dominica, and what method he used to export his fish!

Hello and good afternoon my people. Hi Miss Dublin I don’t go on social media therefore I don’t know what’s circulating so can you tell us the allegations. What’s in the Courts and also what will be investigated by the special committee that you formed. Please inform us because I don’t reside in Dominica but I am a member of my community credit union.

Vaguaries abound in this contribution. As you rightly said it’s a people’s organization, so let the people know what’s going on.

How can it be fair?, when the brother of one of the main people accused of mismanagement, among other things, was newly elected to serve on the Board of Directors. That’s the same nepotism and lack of transparency that was spoken of in the emails and on social media. Who is guarding the guard? An independent, external body should be set up to audit the NCCU and get to the bottom of this. As a member I am not satisfied.

At the AGM, one officer on a committee told members to stop asking questions and move on; one member of the Board kept saying: “there are more questions than answers.” What is really going on in that place?!
We need answers, we need to ask questions and too many of the same, old, allegedly tainted hands are playing in the soup. THIS NEEDS TO END!.

    Just my two cents

Agreed. I, too, like specificity. What are the specific issues? Don’t say anything if your words are not going to improve the silence.

Never mind. Some of these things are simply trivial, such as C-Lypso competition. Just like Calypso competition some are not satisfied…duh. Have you heard the level of music? Makes you wonder if many of the artists have listened to Kassav or even Exile One caliber of music, or are even students of music. This is meant to be constructive to raise the level, urge musicians to study music. Another gripe has to do with an old issue before the court. What else is there, ..they didn’t mention, maybe we can make up our own. 8-O
