New traffic arrangements for CITP

A ‘No Entry’ sign to be erected at the entrance of Valley Road is among new traffic arrangements to be implemented for the staging of Creole in the Park 2012.

Second in Command at the traffic department, Inspector Anthony Lawrence, said access will be allowed only to persons doing business at Josephine Gabriel and Company.

He was speaking at a press conference on Thursday.

Along with that only limited traffic will be allowed on Bath Road. “This means that patrons will have unlimited access into the Botanic Gardens. We have the Morne Prosper/Watten Waven bus stop which will be relocated next to Harra Agencies and Virgin Lane. Persons from the Valley would pick up their bus, from there they would proceed along Bath Road and take a right turn unto the link road, passing at the back of the stadium and then to the Valley,” he explained.

He said the two gates at the Botanic Gardens will be closed, however it will be opened between 12:30 pm and 1:30 pm to allow parents to collect their children from nearby schools.

“In the evening, there will be a no entry at the junction of Virgin Lane and Bath Road so that no vehicle will be allowed to go beyond Virgin Lane  on to Bath Road,” Lawrence further pointed out.

He said this is being done because of large crowds moving along that route during the evening.

The police should also pay some attention to the traffic in the Botanic Gardens when there is no creole in the park. Vehicles parking on both sides of the road yet that narrow road has to be used as a two-lane. This creates alot of chaos and confusion for motorist during lunchtime.
