New Venezuelan ambassador to Dominica has said he will foster a deeper relationship between the two nations.

“I come here in order to deepen the relationship between Dominica and Venezuela,” Hayden Owanda Pirela Sanchez said when he presented his credential to the President of Dominica, Eluid Williams, on Monday.

He is replacing former ambassador Carmen Martinez de Grijalva who ended a 12-year stint as Venezuelan ambassador here recently.

Sanchez said his country will respect the sovereignty of the people of Dominica while at the same time seeking the integration of the people. “Our Venezuelan Constitution said …Venezuela will promote the integration of  Latin America and the Caribbean,” he said.

In welcoming the new ambassador, President Williams said he has no doubt the bonds of friendship between the two states will be strengthened. “I have no doubt that you will work to further strengthen the bonds of friendship and cooperation which already exists between our two countries,” he remarked. “Dominica has over the years benefited significantly from assistance offered by your government through several cooperation agreements and we continue to benefit through the Petro Caribe initiative and in our membership of the ALBA.”

He said Dominica’s relationship with Venezuela remains a high priority in the island’s foreign policy. “You would be pleased to know that Venezuela continues to be a major source of development assistance for the Commonwealth of Dominica and therefore relations with your country remain a matter of high priority in Dominica’s foreign policy,” the president said.

The new ambassador also made a courtesy call on Prime Minister Roosevelt Skerrit.

It is nice to see how our ALBA partners are guided by their constitutions, “Our Venezuelan Constitution said …Venezuela will promote the integration of Latin America and the Caribbean”, says Venezuelan ambassador to Dominica, Hayden Owanda Pirela Sanchez. May this be a lesson to the Prime Minister of Dominica, the President of Dominica and all Dominicans. Welcome Mr Ambassador, indeed we in Latin America and the Caribbean are our brothers/sisters keeper!

    Dominica
please stay away from communist dictatorships like Venezuela or Cuba, or Alba organization.

Try to establish some relationships with Obama instead

See what is happening in Venezuela these days ; Chavez is suffering of cancer and cannot fullfill his duty again ; He will never return to power ; but, still he does not allow any free election

In Cuba, Raoul Castro has just nominate his successor ; the people has nothing to say about it ; no free elections ; what kind of freedom or democracy is that ?

Those who criticized the new Ambassador for, let us say being serious(someone called him another non-complimentary name), notice his smile in the picture above. This was meant for the portrait. However, he looks very natural and pleasant in this one. I hope it pleases you. There is a time for everything. A time to be serious and a time to smile and laugh. This is part of life.

Many negatives remarks have been made of the venezeula ambassordor, soley of his apperance. Now is the priminister that is too stiff. Please do not jugde about by it cover unless you have read it. Constructive critism is good when it is done in a fair manner, however, when it is done in the negative it just makes the individuals un inteligent. They are just using words to cite riots.

I notice that as well. Too much on his minds, no doubt. He appears to be hearing the Ambassador but not listening.

Criticism and negativity never fails; always scrutinizing and seeking it. If you have nothing constructive to state, keep quiet. This forum is meant for sensible comments that others might know and learn something from. It is also meant as a source of interaction; not meant for such negativity. It makes no sense whatsoever.
