Dominicans are being encouraged to return all overdue library books without fear of being penalized.
The Dominica Public Library has announced an amnesty for members in possession of its books that are overdue, as part of the activities to observe library week.
Chief Librarian Magdalene Robin told a ceremony to officially open the week of activities that the idea is to promote the library and the work its staff does.
“Even if they have lost the books they can come in and talk to us and let us know what happened. If they owe a fee they can still come in and bring the books so that they can continue to use the library,” she said.
The amnesty period will run from May 10 to June 12, 2010.
