“The Dominican Musician Still in Exile”

    A Huge Loss

    R.I.P… BROTHER JEFF JOE R.I.P

Today we feel the void of loosing a well-known Dominican Musician Jeff Joseph (Jeff Joe). Jeff with his Group “Grammacks International” out of St Joseph Dominica was one of the groups that took the Brand new musical style of “Cadence-lypso” to the rest of the planet. The group toured the Caribbean, French islands, Africa, France, and Europe and even played at a Super Bowl in the United States. The music influenced other styles of music included Zouk which groups like Kassav now embrace. Jeff Joe was very persistent in staying true to the Art of his Music even when Grammacks had broken up. Jeff continued to do projects and produce music with other Musicians internationally; He also performed in Dominica locally and at the annual World Creole Music Festival in in Dominica.
Like many Dominican Musicians, Jeff Joe had his struggles to make it musically outside of Dominica but he refused to let that slow him down; he was well respected has earned his respect and righful place among people and Dominican Musicians. Jeff Jo realized how much the Dominican People and Musicians could improve in the art of music and often talked about building community centers and recording studios at home in Dominica for our youth he has been a embassor for Dominica and supported and advertised the World Creole Music Festival and our music at home and abroad.
As we put Jeff to rest we have hope that we will see him again in the lifet to come He is now with Jah. The Dominica musician must keep his spirit alive in our music and spread among us the love and energy he had deep inside him which he always shared. I hope that in the days and years to come Dominica will also remember to honor jeff and rest of the Dominican Musicians that are still in exile by embracing our work and ideas to bring to fruition music school and memorial that are in the making since the passing of Jeff. Every one of us would prefer to be home as often as possible to perform and be with our people and to continue to build on what jeff has lead the way in doing for Dominica.
Thanks to The Government to Honering Jeff Jo with a State Funeral. one love to all
    RIP Jeff Jo.

MOTORCADE MOTORCADE!! What a brilliant spontaneous idea!!! I think that even some little children in years to come will atleast remember the Motorcade! My co-worker cousins from Guadeloupe are even excited. We have to remember is a day or mourning so we must behave proper.

    December 1, 2011

Well Well Well , to you ImWonderin. the government of Dominica decided to give Jeff a big send off as per Vince in his interview. So if they are the ones co-ordinating the burial it would make sense for them to cover all avenues. and YES i would like to know that my TAX money is actually going towards the burial of Jeff Joe, as he too has done for Dominica as a true citizen would. No reason why we have to pin point what type of media to use . Hmmm

  20. look it
    December 1, 2011

I want to be part of the motocade!!!! I will be on bayfront, but i hear that it is a day of mourning. A motorcade is not disrespecting the day of mourning so all who do not want to participate can wait in St. Joe. Why them people always have to come with their negativity nuh? it is a peaceful show of appreciation. The Government will accept that! I hope the state vehicle is at the front!!! MOTORCADE! i will be parked and ready!!!!

THE WHOLE FACT OF THE MATTER,JEFF JOSEPH SEEMS TO HAVE TOUCH MANY HEARTS AND SOUL WITH HIS MUSIC. SO IF HE IS GETTING A GRAND SEND OFF, WHAT’S ALL THE BICKKERING IS AL ABOUT. I COME TO THE REALIZATION THAT SOME INDIVIDUALS SHOULD NOT HAVE ACCESS TO COMPUTERS IF THEY ARE GOING TO USE IT TO SPREAD HATE AND IGNORANCE. WHO THE CAP FIT LET THEM WEAR IT. REST IN PEACE JEFF JOE.
YOUR WORK HAS FINISH HERE ON EARTH. MANY PEOPLE WILL REMEMBER YOU BY THAT. YOU ARE
ON THE OTHER SIDE AND ONLY JAH CAN HAVE THE FINAL SAY IN YOUR RESTING PLACE.

I agreewith Roseau the government of dominica should sponsor live viewing of Jeff’s funeral.. He deserved it

    • I'mWondering
      December 1, 2011

Everything should not be up to the government you know! They could have done something, but so too, could Marpin TV as the premier provider. They should have stepped up and volunteered to broadcast the event live.

Instead of blaming the government on what it failed to do…look for alternatives. Start a petition and get Marpin to broadcast live.

      Be proactive instead of reactive

      • dang!
        December 1, 2011

How do you know marpin not broadcasting the event live? Dominicans are so expert at just talking in the absence of information.

      • sisserou
        December 2, 2011

@I’m wonderin – the funeral will be broadcasted live on Marpin 2K4 ltd. Be guided accordingly.
