A significant milestone was attained on Friday August 12, 2016, when PDV Caribe Dominica Ltd. officially launched its complete line of LPG products marking its entrance into a new segment of the LPG Commercial market to sell bulk fuel to both the private and public sectors.

At the media launch in Jimmit, Petro Caribe announced its latest additions to its line of products to include 100-pound(24g) LPG cylinders, the 1050-pound (250g) propane tanks and its 420-pound(100g) propane tank.

Henry Blanco, General Manager of PDV Caribe Dominica Ltd said, “Nine years ago the Waitukubuli Distribution plant which is one of the many fruits of the Petro Caribe Agreement, was built to do two things -provide energy security and to keep fuel costs affordable… Consequently one of the tanks built was the LPG Sphere with the storage capacity of 2140 barrels, however certain aspects of the sphere was incomplete so when we commenced our LPG Retail operations in June of 2010 we brought the fuel in by using isotanks. Now I’m proud to announce that on July 30, 2016, we received our first shipment of 1544 barrels of LPG. This means we can guarantee supply on the market for at least 3 months and maintain our security stock.”

He further stated, “We are here to ensure that our customers receive the cleanest fuel, as our gas is made up of 50% propane and 50% butane, unlike our competitors, and will be sold at an unbeatable price.”

Deputy Chairman of Petro Caribe and the Hon. Minister responsible for Petro Caribe, Reginald Austrienoted that, “People purchase Petro Caribe gas not because they like Petro Caribe or because the colour is red, it is because it is cheaper, and that really is the benefit that Petro Caribe promised and continues to deliver to the people of Dominica.”

“We buy the product at world market prices but we have been able to manage the program in such a way that because of the direct government to government relationship, we can remove a lot of the transactional costs and so the little profit that we make can be passed back on to the communities.”

Currently there are 38 people employed at Petro Caribe, all of whom are from Dominica.

Not just a company that provides fuel, EdixoChourio, Counsellor of the Venezuelan Embassy during his brief remarks, highlighted the various social programs that Petro Caribe supports.  He said, “Petro Caribe contributes to some social programs for Dominica’s most vulnerable people; the Yes We Care, the Centenarians LPG program and the fuel stations for fishermen, which is managed by [their respective] local fisheries cooperatives in the communities, giving empowerment to the people for the management of resources which belongs to them.

He concluded his speech by reaffirming Venezuela’s commitment to Dominica saying, “Despite [the current state of affairs in Venezuela] nothing and no one will take us away from the path of solidarity and unconditional support to our sister Dominica and her great leader Roosevelt Skerrit.”

To Date, Petro Caribe supports 295 benefactors through the Social LPG Program, for a total monthly contribution of $4,000. Every time a product is purchased from Petro Caribe, that consumer is contributing to important social investments in infrastructure, sports, education, housing and culture, to name a few.

Meanwhile, Dominicans were encouraged to protect the Petro Caribe agreement by Acting Prime Minister Dr. Collin McIntyre.

Dr. McIntyre said it is essential that the Petro Caribe initiative be protected as many of the country’s programs and infrastructural developments are supported by this Agreement.

He said, “We must not take this for granted at all.”

      Really?
A business place cannot wear red uniforms? Is that colour banned?

I’m sure that couple years down the road Trump is going to blame somebody else for all the hatred and anger that he has evoked in Americans. Talk about reverse psychology!

I listened to a number of radio presentations with Miss Denise Charles and Mr. Felix Gregoire informing the public about the operations of the Petro Caribe arrangements.

Mr. Gegoire is a veteran at public appearances but I was most impressed with Miss Charles. Well spoken and intelligent and able to hold her own during the interviews and discussion. Hats off, young lady!

I would encourage Dominicans to do whatever they can to impact this country for the good because the thoughts that come out of some people’s minds are just frightening! I guess they are beyond help really.

Honestly I pray for me never to become so obsessed that all I can pour out is hatred and negativity. Just read that comment above! My goodness!

Hmmm! Edixo Chourio: “nothing and no one will take us away from the path of solidarity and
UNCONDITIONAL support for our sister Dominica and her great leader ROOSEVELT SKERRIT”. So it is nah, so we come. So what happens if the great leader is no longer in charge? Will the support now DISAPPEAR?
    HOTEP!
