Heavy rain pounded several sections of Dominica on Wednesday, with at least one landslide being reported.
This photo shows a landslide in the Bagatelle. Motorists are asked to exercise extreme caution in the area.
DNO understands there has been flooding in Castle Bruce and the road to Good Hope was temporarily affected by rising waters from the Castle Bruce River.

Pple of Bagatelle and surroundings, open your eyes. This constituency has voted labour for the past 20 yrs and nothing special is being done. This pic only shows a section of the road. But the entire road (or Track ) from G/bay to Petite Savanne is in a deplorable condition. Where every other constituency where the votes are close or votes the opposition getting highway. SO THE MORAL OF THIS IS POLITICS IS A GAME SO LETS PLAY IT RIGHT; VOTE AGAINST LABOUR IF YOU WANT THEM HOLES TO FIX. I’M TIRED OF THE TREATMENT , ARE YOU ?

The slide is not as bad as the pot holes in the photo. The dirt will block some of them, if there is enouth dirt….

The landslide might be a blessing in disguises for the people of Bagatelle , according to the picture, their appears to be many potholes just infront of the slide.

What you all expect, D/A always have rain, the roads must get pot holes. Before is on donkey back people use to go to Bagatelle wee.
What is your point? In day gone (primitive times) by people traveled on Donkeys to move from one point to the next. It is rather unfortunate that the landslide came down at such a location but rather fortunate to have happen next to all the port holes so that the ministry of communications and works can see what really needs to be done on the road from Grand Bay to Petite Savanne. Pork Fest is almost one month away i hope the Government give some attention to this road.
From what i see as a result of this slides is water in the yard of the Bagatelle Health Centre and the Entrance to the BAFONDPOINTE village council which is located below. I hope that the necessary action was taken to have the slide cleared to avoid more destruction to the property below the road.
Is this the state of one of the major roads in Dominica? If there is a blockage of the Pond casse to laplaine that’s the road the emergency services have to use.

If you have not notice; New York roads are all flat so dropping in a pothole is not that bad. Going down in a valley where it might take a month before someone finds you is a serious problem. So don’t compare apples with oranges.
The government needs to do it’s job…Fix the roads in these areas not just fixing the roads where everyone can see road work going on.
