PM says unfinished projects will be completed in 2011

PM Roosevelt SkerritPrime Minister Roosevelt Skerrit said all unfinished projects are expected to be completed on time.

Skerrit told an interview with the Government Information Service that despite the challenges predicted for 2011 all unfinished projects will be tackled.

Skerrit said however, the lending resources available by institutions will be limited this year.

“The way I see things is that the world economies won’t be stabilized before 2013. That’s because some of the austerity programs some countries have implemented will take a couple of years before we see stability. The resources which lending institutions would normally have are limited in 2007 and we have to go with an optimism but caution,” he added.

He said government have the resources for several projects including the Point Michel sea defense project, the fisheries project in Portsmouth, fire station in Melville Hall, police station in Grand Bay and the West Coast road project.

Meantime Skerrit said part of the geothermal energy project is expected to commence in the first quarter of this year.

Mr Skerrit u doin a good job.At least some of the project are finished and some still going on.All the UWP does is insult people who oppose them.I took them for a ride by asking them to tell where was the threat to Domocracy and I got a tongue lashing from UWP.That’s how threy say they care for the youth.Just because I told them that when i listen to Tony Astaphan an Charles Savrin I learn more from them than the jokers on qfm i was called all sorts of names.
Mr Sherrit Rome wasn’t built in a day and don’t get distracted by United Workers Of Doom Party. As a young person that’s how I see them they are no examples to me.When Blessings from St.Joe is thier chief psychologist what do u expect I quess blessings want’s to be the next PM.He has more reasoning than Hector John.Dominicans would be crazy to elect these grumpy vindictive men.The same people who talking about dictorship on the radio insulting people and they expect people to vote for them. They lasing at the police who has to take care of the whole country with limited resourses and the expect police to vote for them.Angello Alleyne goes on a program everyday with his dirty mouth and bar-B-q brains denouncing everything the government does. When we the youth hear these thing what do you expect to do.We want men and women to lead us to a better Dominica because we are the ones who are going to take over United workers Of Doom Party making us afraid to take part in politics>They have no respect fore themselves just mepuis every day Sunday to Sunday we the youth fed Up with uwp. They can’t even answer.Where is the threat to democracy? Instead they cursing a 16 year old youth Shame uwp foooooooooooooools

Mr Pm you havee been trying your best and don’t get carried away by the opposition they are the ones preaching hate why there is so much crime in the country. While you and your government having sleepless nights James,John,Prevost,Lennox Linton,Angello,Trevor Johnson,Paul Joseph,Blessings The psychology proffessor Of The UWP,The Man Himself,Shirley Allan,Norman Shillingford,Michael Tranny Coipel,Clayton Shillingford,Athie and others spreading hatred in The Country. If u notice they are the ones who contually call puke 95fm.

Mr Pm under you leadership the police got the most. The UWP neglected the police when they were in power.MrJames knows that.I agree we lack some equiptment and would advise u to have an iventory in the force to find out what is really needed to fight the more advance crimes taking place in the country.MR PM continue doing a good job for all Dominica and just forget the nonsense the opposition doing. If the court rules against you don’t worry u can win your st again. They will be happy but that doesn’t mean the govt. will fall hold on strong.I am a police officer for more than 20 years and you are the PM i admire the most.I wish uwp never get into office because police officers will be like dogs. They will destroy everyone of us who oppose them.Just Listen To Hector John.UWP must remember that most jobs started may never finish on time due to many factors.i don’t expect them to understand that becuse Blessings is the Psychologist of thier party.Hector John can only understand computers and alchol not people but you can.

Dominicans must be aware and follow closely what is happening in our country. Skerritt said that part of the Geothermal Energy project is expected to commence in the first quarter of this year. Dominicans must ask Skerritt about the status of that project since the foreign West Indies Power Co. was given the go ahead by Govt. to exploit that Geothermal Resource. It is a known FACT that almost $2,000,000.00 has gone to somebody or somebodies pockets for LEGAL FEES even before any real work or exploration has begun. Imagine that sum of $2,000,000.00? And who was that lawyer who received all that money so far for LEGAL FEES?

Any Govt which sells over its Natural Resources, like Geothermal or its PUMICE, to any Foreign Co. in these day and age MUST BE NUTS. Such a Govt is not interested in the sustainable development of the country and its people. Many countries have gone through the horrors of selling over its resources just to be reaped off by those foreign Co. Govt.s have connived and have shown a willingness to allow those foreign Co. to control. Govt could work with outside experts and seek help wherever necessary but not give over total control of your riches.

Africa with all its natural resources is a classic example of being exploited to the MAX. The leaders in many African countries have allowed that to happen, many times getting their KICKBACKS or big sums under the table. Meanwhile the majority of the people remain poor amidst all the natural riches in the country. Skerritt again coming up with a fast one to appease Dominicans. He know quite well that the GEOTHERMAL project is on a serious Go slow.

    @Liz
You have been out of Dca for over thirty years but still you feel the need to suck-up to the illegal PM. Granted you have a say in the affairs of your country but please give it a rest and let those in the know comment of the things affecting the country because you really don’t have a clue. For someone who professes christianity you sure worship mankind (Skerro) for whatever reason. Remember the commandment; I am the lord thy god, thou shall have no other gods before me”. When Skerrit entered this begging relationship with China in exchange for dumping Chinese on our island to take over,he told us in the memorandum of understanding that the four pillar project of $300,000,000 {three hundred million dollars} would have been completed in 2010,we are in 2011 and some of them has not even started after two election campaign. So i don’t think we should feel comforted with his promises on those projects still,as a matter of fact we not allow him to talk to us about those works anymore.Night landing was inaugurated by LIAT and up to now LIAT is yet to laned at nights.I thought when an inauguration was done it means the process is completed and flights are to continue but instead the BLACKMOORE is going in circles talking about all what is to be put in place before planes start landing at nights. The LIAT official has made it clear that it is illegal for any landing to take place at nights.LIAT needed money so they were paid to carry on that so called inaugural flight.

Mr. Skerrit, you forgot to tell us about the coffe plant that Hon. Matthew Walter told us to keep our fingers crossed for. I hope you don’t expect us to keep our tongue crossed as well. Also, lots of projects but how much employment do you expect to create so we could get our people off from the Red Clinic, and instead have them earning a living for themselves and families which in turn will help them secure a future?
I remember in the days of UWP, we saw Courts moved to the North, South, North East, and the west which created employment for many of our people; since DLP came, most of these stores closed and people were left without a job. Any plans to convince Courts to reconsider their plan for 2011? Also, during UWP, Cable & Wireless built a massive building in Possy and had quite a few persons from the north employed. During DLP reign, they closed as well. Any plans to convine C&W (Lime) to reconsider their plan for 2011 since fewer people are employed during the reign of the DLP than ever before? Unless our people are employed Mr. Pm we will continue to have a raise in crime, migration, lawlessness (though you lead this one by example) and maintaining the Red Clinic will get more difficult. Plz give us answers mr PM

The sea defense is needed and I will say kudos to the government. The west coast road is 20 years over due and the DLP administration is responsible for 10 out of these 20 years.; My problem is every government comes into power and basically do the same thing.. A government build a fire station or a feeder road and expect the highest level of praise . Guess what – The praises that this administration is looking for is just the same praises that UWP and Freedom party requested. Why should I praise a bunch of self serving politicians for a job they are over paid to do.

I will give praises to any government who can show me that it is prepared to change course and start building people and setting strong foundation for sustainable jobs. In anticipation that someone will say that we need infrastructure, let me remind everyone that we have heard this over and over again- from Freedom UWP and ten years of Labor Party. We have become use to depending on China, Taiwan or Venezuela to provide us with the infrastructure projects deemed necessary for advancement . Our government use these charitable donations to boast their achievement. The question is how many of us Dominicans can truly say that we have truly tasted the fruits of the achievement that the politicians brag about? Over the last 20 years we’ve had 55% reduction in population an indication that there are no incentives for young and old people to remain on the island.

I’ve waited in joyful anticipation for signs of development and I can no longer allow myself to be fooled . I’ve come to the realization that we need people with revolutionary ideas. People who are prepared to take alternate route.. Thirty years we have been saying that an international standard airport will not benefit us yet we continue to lag in the Tourism sector while islands like Lucia and St Kitts have left us behind- way behind. Maybe it is time to abandon those conservative ideologies and take the chances. “ Build it and they will come”- This is the way forward . We don’t need a JFK ,O’Hare or Heathrow type airport; An upgraded version of Uranora or VC Bird with room for expansion will suffice. An added two hundred million dollars to that which was wasted on MelleVille Hall could have brought us into full fledge competition within the region. You know what is funny- Come election an International Standard airport is #1 item on their portfolio..

I will forever give praises to Mamo who was not perfect but saw the need for diversification. During the latter stages of her administration Mamo built two cruise ship terminals and set the stage for Tourism development. Some may argue that not enough was done then. The question is what has been done since. The answer is floating in the wind.

If the PM is looking for any praises let us remember that Edison built a few fisheries complex – donated and constructed by Japanese. They built a few schools , roads etc. Like Cuba Gooding Character – “ Show me the money”. Show me how we intend to sustain our economy and prevent further migration.Right now the only consistent revenue source are the over taxed people of the country. Yes Pierro instituted the VAT system to help a crumbling economy and for the last 10 years that is all we have depended on with a few Venezuelan and Chinese dollars. What happens when the thrill is done – when the charitable donations are no longer readily available. What happens – god Forbid that Skerrit is no longer PM and the relationship with Chavez is gone. Let me Guess – Look for another source of handout.

Absent from all political mischief and bribery the geothermal project will be a step in the right direction. A system that is owned by our people will bring about positive changes and when this project comes into play I will be the first to offer the congratulations due. Until then the geothermal project is like the Layou River hotel project – A promise.

    January 7, 2011

Well it look like our development is solely based on some other country tax dollar – begging all the way. When are we going to produce so we can develop on our oun terms. When are we going to seriously consider sustainable development. At the rate we going when the PM is out of office (whenever that is – 10 yrs from now or 50 yrs form now) we wil have no money for projects. The key is to get another skillful beggar in power.

One thing I know for certain is that Dominica can never realize its full potential by begging. The donor entities will never give you the opportunity to be better off than them.

Man have to come back to the realities of life and understand that it is by the sweat of man brow man shall eat bread. We have got to work – we have got to produce. That is how the donor countries get the money that they give – their citizens work. Well maybe we have a few exceptions, like Venezuela maybe

    I hate Fluff reporting.

If something is unfinished, it can’t be finished on time. It was unfinished in 2010, therefore, it’s no longer on time. Instead, it should saw, all unfinished project, will be completed in 2011. (Fluff)

Then the article goes on, cutting on both ends. On one end, it’s trying to be optimistic, but on the same vein, venting it pessimistic view of the global economical situation, just in case the unfinished project are not completed on time (lol)

What sweet propaganda, Let’s hope we don’t hear that the resources they had to completed several projects including the Point Michel sea defense project, the fisheries project in Portsmouth, fire station in Melville Hall, police station in Grand Bay and the West Coast road project, got diverted into unaccountable areas.

And finally, the geothermal energy project will commence in the first quarter of 2011 – a quarter is four months, if by April, it haven’t started, that will be another unfinished project which will be completed on time in 2012. (lol) Fluff!

Sir: – – “a quarter is four months, if by April …”

      We do have 12 months in a year. 12 / 4 = 3. By definition, a quarter is 1 / 4 of the whole. Four quarters = 1 dollar.

January, February, March = 1 quarter.

April, May June = 2 quarter.

July, August, September = 3 quarters.

October, November, December = 4 quarters.
