Prime Minister of Dominica the Honourable Roosevelt Skerrit leaves the state over the weekend for a much needed vacation break.
After a more than thirty (30) day election campaign which saw the Prime Minister address countless rallies across the country some much needed and deserving rest is planned over the next few days.
Prime Minister Skerrit has wished all Dominicans a very merry Christmas and looks forward to their
continued prayers, greetings and goodwill in the approaching year.
Prime Minister Skerrit will be accompanied by his family on this brief vacation.
During his absence from the state Minister for Youth, Sports, Culture and Constituency Empowerment Honourable Justina Charles will act as Prime Minister.

Roosevelt, enjoy your break with the family and I mean that. Because when you get back…if you decide to come back, there will be a mammoth task waiting for you not least because of all the bills you have to pay and for which there is no money. Venezuela want to get paid for its fuel in U.S. Dollars for a start, the French are getting cold feet about the geothermal project, the Chinese are pushing you to come good on your promises to create a trading base for them in Portsmouth.
Personally I would not mind if you did not return because it seems everywhere you go you create division and that is not good for you or the country. You legacy for winning election has been damaged because it was won for you by your best man, a Bajan and that has weakened your image beyond repair. There is disparity within your own party. Personally, I would not mind if you did not return, believe me Dominica will go on without you and I’m saying that without malice. We will struggle financially, with or without you but at least your absence may bring some genuine peace amongst our people and relieve you of a lot of stress at the same time, which we know you are suffering from. You see, Dominica is a small country and there not many secrets but most of us afraid to open our mouths. Merry Christmas to you and your family Roosevelt.

I thought you had to work on a job before you take vacation, campaign is not a job it is working for yourself, it’s an exchange of what you offer the citizens for their votes.if another party had won the election and took vacation you would say all kinds of disgraceful things about them, what work did he do for a well deserve vacatio?, do you get vacation because you work hard at getting a job. I personally do not believe that Jesus is the reason for the celebration of December 25, that day of feasting was in process before He came to the world–a feast of the none Jewish people at the time–they were known as the Gentiles, or Pagan which is better known to society today.
Nonetheless I believe that God came to save this world, as He put on flesh and bones, in His Person of Love, we know that He is Jesus the Son. And that is what I observe –day in and day out; not just one day of the year–and so if the world has chosen December 25, to observe the birth of Jesus Christ, so it be, as long as we keep in mind, that He came to save us, most importantly. And so, have a great Christmas with your beautiful family. One Love!
