The St. Mary’s Academy 4H Club celebrated Boys Awareness Week with a number of activities designed to elevate young boys: develop their self-esteem and help them to have positive attitudes.

The highlight of the week was a Boys’ Symposium on Thursday 24th which was held under the theme “Save Our Boys”. Mrs. Delia Cuffy-Weekes; Officer, Mikael Desbonne and Curdley Pierre, a member of the National Youth Council addressed the young boys.

President of the SMA’s 4H Club, Tyreese Francis said, ” We always hear of boys underachievement. We hear that boys are marginalized and that they are misunderstood; so as a club we wanted to focus on our boys to let them believe that they can achieve and that they can grow up to be real men.”

Other activities for the week included an Ecumenical Church Service at the Portsmouth Pentecostal Church which coincided with Universal Children Day.

Additionally, the club members were engaged in the building of the club’s notice board and a hike to Chaudier Pool in Bense, beach party on the purple turtle beach in Portsmouth. All members were treated for having fully participated in the week’s activities.
