South Korea donates protocol vehicles, building material to Dominica

As part of its assistance to Dominica, the Republic of Korea, also known as South Korea has handed over two protocol vehicles as well as housing material as part of its 2015 Grant Aid to the island.

The protocol vehicles will be used to transport visiting dignitaries around the island and the material for the construction of houses in the Kalinago Territory.

Minister of Foreign Affairs, Senator Francine Baron, who was addressing the handing over ceremony on Thursday, said the donation serves to recognize the bonds of friendship that exists and the continued assistance given by the government of the Republic of Korea to the Government and the people of Dominica.

“I am therefore pleased to welcome you all and to recognize in particular the presence with us of Honorable Yang Seokhwan, Consular at the Embassy of the Republic of Korea based in the Dominican Republic,” she said. “We do appreciate the visits of staff of the Embassy of the Republic of Korea who always make a special effort to personally hand over supplies or equipment provided by the Korea government to us. So this is indeed a demonstration of the interest of the embassy in collaborating with the Ministry of Foreign Affairs in enhancing bilateral relations between the two countries.”

She explained that the Republic of Korea was one of the first few countries with which Dominica established diplomatic relations within the first year of attaining political independence, “so our two countries have enjoyed over 30 years of fruitful and cordial relations…”

According to Baron, the Government of Dominica and Dominican nationals in several communities have benefited from regular donations of material and equipment from the government of the Republic of Korea under Korea’s Annual Economic Assistance Programme.

She stated further that over the years the Government of Korea has provided vehicles to several government departments.

“These include a fire truck, ambulances fitted with all amenities, vehicles for the Dominica Police Force, the Dominica State Prison, the Government Information Service and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs,” she noted. “Three protocol vehicles were provided by the Republic of Korea in 2013 and today two additional vehicles donated under the Korea’s 2015 grant assistance will be officially handed over to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.”

Baron added, “As you may be aware the provision of protocol services is a key aspect of the work of the ministry, the protocol and Consular Division seeks to enhance the image and reputation of the Commonwealth of Dominica by providing high quality, responsive protocol and Consular services to both local and foreign dignitaries.”

She went on to say that as Dominica expands its diplomatic relations the ministry is required to coordinate a greater number of official visits by high level dignitaries to Dominica.

Our dictator ‘condemn’s North Korea and then,…………..he is gets a bone from the South Koreans…………………

A story for you. A man was admitted to the PM Hospital. He had half his brain missing, a hole where his heart should have been ,no backbone and his guts had been ripped out. Despite this, he seemed lucid to the point of annoyance. The junior doctor attending reported the matter to the SMO. The SMO responded: “Let him go, just check first that he is a government minister as this is a natural state for them”.

Apparently you are unaware that North Korea is a totally separate Nation from South Korea. You should get better acquainted of the Asian countries before posting erroneous information like that.

South Korea is very close to Japan. Don’t forget to test the vehicles (and building materials) for RADIOACTIVITY as they could have been purchased ‘cheaply’ from Japan, or are already infected anyway if local.

FUKUSHIMA IS STILL VERY TOXIC AND DEADLY RADIOACTIVE MATERIAL IS STILL BEING DISCHARGED INTO THE SEA BY JAPAN AT THE RATE OF 100- 300 TONS PER DAY. THIS HAS BEEN GOING ON SINCE THE EVENT OF THE ‘EARTHQUAKE’!!!! http://www.japantimes.co.jp/news/2014/05/21/national/in-new-phase-fukushima-workers-begin-releasing-groundwater/

    By the way, FUKY was a MAN-MADE disaster – http://beforeitsnews.com/japan-earthquake/2014/01/fukushima-sabotage-2445230.html .

    Keep our country safe!

Even the Finns has said NO to KIA (NOKIA) and closed down the mobile phone company. We should take heed from what they did and say NO to KIA ourselves :).

Alas, Poor Dominique, what an achievement to have publicised as big news, with this lady standing there :? I guess one will be assigned to her. Lol,,LOL. Dominica really don’t have any news of substance to report on. We had not too long ago the Chinese many motor bicycles, that are all dead news now as they are no where to be seen. What a calamity. Here today gone tomorrow.
Two, jeeps is making big news in Dominica to be driven on the worse roads in the world. What di we have to do to earn this token.

Sad but true. Some really minor events are broadcast like big things but it just shows the world that very little happens or is ever happening in Dominica. I hope we will have more meaningful news about the islands’ development in years to come. By then it may be realised that we needed an international airport ages ago.

Be thankful, but be aware that the Korean government is using this as an opportunity to promote vehicles manufactured in their country.

In the overall scheme of things this is a small price to pay to promote their wares.

We don’t have proper garbage trucks but you guys asking for protocol vehicles? So much expensive vehicles allu have driving all over the place…meanwhile garbage cannot be collected on time and when it does it leaves a long trail of smelly water on the road as we don’t have adequate trucks. Where are your priorities?

Besides receiving protocol vehicles, can govt negotiate with S. Korea to sell (produce, water etc.) in order to create more jobs for our citizens? The sale of passport should not be our only export product.

This …….. labour government are not visionary, never have, will never be. They cannot see beyond the Roseau river, yet draw a national plan for Dominica to kick start a feasible developmental plan. They are devious, short-sighted, ……….., self preservation and disruptive. their leaders are inept and empty to current affairs et alone comprehend the bigger picture.
