Tonge promotes the benefits of carnival; encourages participation

Minister for Tourism, Robert Tonge, speaking at media launch of Carnival 2020

Tourism Minister, Senator Robert Tonge, is touting the Miss Dominica Pageant as an essential part of the country’s carnival celebrations that provides opportunities for young women to display their talent when representing Dominica in the region.

“Our pageant remains an essential part of our Carnival programme and will, therefore, continue to provide opportunities especially for our young women to display their talent and to also represent Dominica with distinction and class when they get the opportunity to participate in regional events,” Tonge said during an address at the official media launch of Mas Domnik 2020.

According to the minister, Dominica’s Carnival is unique in many ways.

“Our carnival serves as an important platform to expose and promote the popular music genres around Dominica,” he said, adding that the country’s bouyon music and calypso will once again be among the major highlights of the celebrations.

Tonge encouraged the public to participate in this year’s celebrations by joining a T-Shirt band or costume band.

He also urged all stakeholders to get on board and advised on everyone to surround themselves with positive people and blank out the negativity.

“Know what you are about and stay focused on that task and you will be fine,” the Tourism Minister stated.

Move your feet jamie and put a capital letter in your name. Maybe your perspective will change. Spread your wings.

Tell us what is there to boast about in Dominica? Even the P.M.’s wife highlighting the deplorabele conditions in Roseau with garbish, rats and bad sewage system. And that is under her own husband regime. Even we have a mayor for Roseau but so many years that lady under control of the P.M. Just eating her salary every month and having her free parking space. Why dont you ask her what is so good about the place instead of being moomoo all the time.I would love to see the place better but promises alone is like a man peeling against the wind and complain his shoes get wet.
