The Dominica Met Office is warning Dominicans to closely monitor a tropical depression which has formed in the Atlantic Ocean.
Satellite images indicate that the area of low pressure over the Central Atlantic Ocean has developed enough organization to be considered a Tropical Depression.
The Met Office said at 11 am, the center of Tropical Depression 12 was located about 1,185 miles east of the Windward Islands. It is moving west near 20 mph and a motion toward the west northwest is expected.
Maximum sustained winds are near 35 mph and the Depression is expected to become a Tropical Storm later today and could become a hurricane over the weekend.
Model guidance suggests that the Depression is expected to turn toward the west northwest soon and keeps the cyclone to the northeast of the Lesser Antilles.
Dominica News Online will monitor this weather system and will publish information as it becomes available.
